The house is perfectly located in the middle of the old town, out of the caos of the resorts along the beach, and instead close to all little good restaurants of Malia, and supermakets. Super equipped, stylishly refurbished, it is a marvellous retreat for a reaxing vacation!
We had a lovely week in the renovated house directly in the center of the old city of Malia which allowed us to be within walking distance of local Greek establishments. The house was quaint and had everything that you need for a short stay; during our stay the manager was very helpful.
Malia is one of the oldest places in the world. 5000 years ago it was one of the only towns in Europe. It has a stunning 7km beach and sits at the foot of beautiful mountains. Old Malia has survived the tourist over-development and the old town actually pre-dates medieval cities in Europe. The culture survives in the people as much as in the ruins. To say that Malia is timeless may be an exaggeration - but given it's history it is as close to timeless as you can get.
In the old town this house has always been known as "The Old House". We do not know exactly how old it is because it pre-dates the municipality records. It stands at the high point in the centre of the old town with the town spread out around it. Uniquely situated in its own grounds it retains both character and gracious living, high ceilings, thick walls and centuries of character. This house has a long story and we feel lucky to be part of it.
