We’re sorry to hear that our property wasn’t the right fit for your group. We do, however, feel it’s important to clarify a few points for future guests reading this review. Our home is advertised to accommodate up to 8 guests, and our house rules clearly outline our occupancy and parking requirements. The RV and additional guests were not disclosed as part of the reservation. We became aware of the RV because a neighboring property owner contacted us. Once we learned of it, we had an obligation to address the situation, particularly because Kelleys Island has strict regulations surrounding short-term rentals and we have a responsibility to operate within those requirements. The RV was also using the property’s utilities, which had not been disclosed or authorized as part of the reservation. We also want to clarify the comments regarding our Ring cameras. They are exterior security cameras, and we were not monitoring guests inside the home. Our communication during the stay was related to the undisclosed RV, occupancy, parking, and our responsibility to follow the applicable rules. Regarding the outdoor space, Kelleys Island has experienced an unusually significant amount of rain and flooding this year. Unfortunately, weather conditions and resulting saturation of the yard are outside of our control. We also do provide chairs for the fire pit. Because of the severe weather, we moved them to a covered/protected location to prevent them from being damaged, where they were still visible and available for guests to use. The fire pit is located in the backyard, which is a relatively small yard, so we were surprised by the description that it was “far away” from the home. We understand that guests have different preferences when it comes to the layout, seating, and amenities of a property, and we respect that this home may not have been what your group was looking for. We simply want future guests to have an accurate understanding of the circumstances surrounding this stay. Our goal is always to provide guests with an enjoyable experience while also protecting the property and complying with the rules and regulations that apply to short-term rentals on Kelleys Island. We wish you the best in finding a property that better suits your group’s needs.
