Take a break and unwind at this peaceful oasis nestled just off the shores of Augur Lake in the Adirondack Park. This cabin provides a warm relaxed environment for the vacationer looking to unwind from their usual hectic pace of life. Augur Lake offers an excellent fishery including a healthy population of pike, large and smallmouth bass, perch, and crappie. Personal watercrafts are banned from use on this lake allowing a quiet, laid-back atmosphere for those who enjoy paddling the days away. We ask of you upon departure that all food is removed from fridge & freezer. Trash is taken care of. Appliances are all off. Gather dirty linen and put it in the bathroom. Double check for any personal belongings. If anything is left behind the item will be mailed to you and you will be charged shipping fees.
We had a great time and an excellent stay here in Adk paradise! Everything was neat, clean and accurate to the listing. Many amenities that we utilized like the boats, camp fire and grill. Would highly reccomend this place and would love to come back again soon!
Overall, the cabin was nice and spacious, though there were a few small things that made the stay a bit less pleasant. Nothing that ruined the trip, but some inconvenience. The water cooler didn't have a tank of water, there was no sponge to wash dishes, the power cable to wifi had to be precariously set at a certain angle to stay on, a couple things broke in the master bedroom (curtain rod fell off, the chain of the light broke off, decor fell off the wall)but they were easy fixes. They had lots of gear to use in the shed, which was very nice of them, however a lot of it was very dirty (especially the kayaks), but if you don't mind taking time to wipe things down, it's not that big of a deal. My biggest let down was the location, the pictures make the property look a bit bigger and private than they really are. Though the neighbors were kind, the dock for you to use for lake access was in someone else's backyard which did make things feel a bit awkward. The surrounding property on the way in is also full of old junk, which was surprising and unsightly, especially when you're trying enjoy nature, but I'm assuming the cabin owners have no control over that and their property itself was very clean and put together. Despite the small hiccups, we did thoroughly enjoy our time and the owner was very responsive to the messages I sent, so their communication gets an A. There is also no service, so make sure you write down the lock box code and get the wifi login before you arrive :)
A very comfortable cabin. Excellent base for Adirondack hiking and exploring. Multiple kayaks and a canoe are available for lake paddles. Kayak entry from water easier than from dock. Very well equipped kitchen and a Weber charcoal grill. We brought guide books and maps. Being unconnected from internet or cell coverage was OK but Wifi would have been useful to compare hiking routes or local restaurants etc in more detail. The Taco Temptation restaurant in Keeseville is good, as is Arnold's market for beer. Perhaps best to bring most of your own food and drink. The only real issue we had was the hot water, which took a long time to get hot and then would cut off after a few short minutes. It made showers and dishwashing a bit problematic. A drying rack for dishes would also be helpful. A vehicle with good ground clearance is best for Glomann road, which is steep and has some ruts and rocks.
Beautiful view of like dwelling as advertised difficult approach Road difficult kayak put in for mature adults no Wi-Fi and/or cell reception something to think about
The surrounding properties are rather dire, but the cabin was great. The deck could use some TLC. Dock was not kayak friendly, the nice neighbors allowed us to launch from theirs. Lake is awesome. Quiet and peaceful.
Thanks to the great communication and pleasant stay, the cabin was cozy, cute and quiet. There was another review that mentioned the water, I did not have any issues with the water in the shower. There was a drinking water machine that was extremely nice! Cabin was clean, and the host is amazing at communication & allowing your family pets! Thank you soo much for allowing us to stay!!
If you like zero service (SOS) with no available WiFi and smelling worse coming out of the shower than going in, then this is the place for you. Also I hope the next customer gets the âwelcomeâ email containing instructions because I didnât. I also didnât have the number for the owner to call but even if I did, I had no service to contact them. I had to drive 15 miles out to get in touch with Expedia to get the number (good luck with Expedia customer service).
The water was yellow/brown and smelled God awful. A water tank with clean water is provided but you still need to wash your hands, brush your teeth, and shower and the water was putrid.
If it werenât for these 3 things, this place would have been great.
First time in the Adirondacks and it was wonderful. The cabin is exactly as described and had everything we needed for our stay. The lake setting is so serene and peaceful. Definitely would recommend!
Upon check in, we never received the code for the key. We had no service to contact the owner. I had to drive into town to get service to be able to contact her for the code for the key. I think we went up at a bad time as a tree service was chainsawing all day right behind our cottage. Theyâve had a lot of rain up there and the dock in the lake for the kids was non existing. The deck to the cottage was very slippery when it rained because of the moss on the stairs l, which caused me to slip and fall down the stairs. Weâve been up there once before and had a really nice, peaceful stay. This time was not so pleasant. I wish I knew all the things before we made the trip up there.
Les points forts : Communication et exactitude de lâannonce
Les points faibles : Emplacement
Auger Lake Escape
Very rustic. Accommodations are as previously reported in other reviews.
Unplug and enjoy the outdoors. Communicate with owner prior to arrival otherwise you will have to drive back to main hwy for cell reception.
This is a very cute cabin to stay in. If youâre looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, it is great to disconnect from Wi-Fi and cell phone service. Even my teenagers wanted to go back and they did not miss electronics at all. Did have to walk a few feet to go to the lake but thereâs still a gorgeous view and great fishing. The cabin had cooking amenities that we used over the stove and the outdoor fire ring. Would recommend!
The property was in good condition and clean. We did enjoy our stay. However the property is not on the water, rather across the street. My impression from the description from the property booking was that we were on the water. It wasnât until two days prior when I received the check-in information on the property that it gave a better description of where the property would be located. The walk to the water was short, however you had a small path between two different properties and not a good place just to hang out by the lake.
This was a nice location for many of the hiking trails!
Stayed at this lake property for a weekend with my family. Had plenty of space for all of us, was clean, and had access to the lake which is gorgeous. The neighbors were friendly when my parents when out for a walk down the road. The lack of wifi and phone service forced us to disconnect, which was really nice. If you are looking for a remote, quiet getaway, this is a great place to do so.
The property was as described in the ad. Very clean...most everything we needed. We could not find any extra garbage bags, so just went to dollar store and bought our own. Unfortunately, I came down with a cold a few days before we were scheduled to arrive. Felt pretty down and out most of the time there. My husband got sick a few days in, so we basically ate, slept and coughed the whole time. No fault of the owners, just really bad timing. A waste of our vacation time, but the location would have been perfect had we felt up to doing anything.
Third time staying here, and the cabin is always cozy and has plenty of gear to allow you to enjoy the lake. We fish hard here, and always have a great time with the quality of fish and the natural beauty of the lake.
