À propos de cet hébergement
Private Fijian Island. Concrete and Glass Modern Home. Come surf, sun and play
Vawa Island stands out uniquely within the elusive realm of private islands. A picturesque slice of heaven, located in the northernmost island of the picture perfect Yasawa archipelago group. There's nothing quite like it in Fiji, the South Pacific, and perhaps even globally.
Encompassing approximately 75 acres, You are immediately drawn in by its champagne sands, bejewelled waters brimming with tropical marine life and vibrant reefs and Rock pools large enough to snorkel and explore in. Its terrain offers a blend of swaying palms, and captivating birdsong — all hallmarks of a Fijian treasure ready for exploration and adventure and making the most remarkable memories.
Yet, it's the human touch that adds an unexpected dimension. Vawa has redefined the paradigm of luxury Fijian getaways. Thatched roofs and timber logs are nowhere to be found. Instead, it exudes a Malibu modern aesthetic, crafted by a Danish architect and an Australian builder. The resulting residence spans over five and a half thousand square feet, boasting four opulent principal suites that surround large living and dining areas.
The front guest suites offers floor to ceiling windows that open across two of their four surrounding walls, allowing the cool tropical breeze to billow through the soft curtains as you slumber.
Days are spent exploring Vawa’s land and turquoise waters or reclining back next to the saline pool with a good book and a fresh coconut in hand. Hammocks are dotted around the tree line for shadier retreats.., beach volleyball and Boules are all part of the laidback charm.
Your Island host team can take you for further exploration to secret islands, alcoves and points of interest within the Yasawas’. Such activities include visiting as the famous Sawa-i-Lau Caves location for the filming of ‘Blue Lagoon’, surfing on the nearby surf breaks. Between May and October, Manta Rays glide around the waters surrounding the Yasawas’ in search of delectable plankton to feed on, snorkelling amongst these majestic giant creatures is truly special.
Every day is a feel-good day on Vawa.
Guests have full access to the house, the island, and its bejewelled waters.
Whist the island is privately owned and as a result you will see no other holiday makers. The island is also home to the villa staff.
The staff do live in a small compound to the West of the island, with a small patch of beach of their own. Whilst they are extremely welcoming and very much embody the friendly Fijian way of life and keen to introduce the brave to their edible delicacies, we do want to ensure they are permitted to relax and enjoy their home without being disturbed, unless for an emergency, or of course by invitation.
Our lovely Island Hostess will always be on hand to book any excursions off the island for you, she has a wealth of knowledge and is always thrilled to assist and chat.
In addition, there are two - three staff who look after the general day to day running of the island, including boat handling should you wish to explore off the island. The Vawa island staff live in staff accommodation away from the main house. They are incredibly kind and friendly people and they will always go out of their way for our guests.
Vawa offers excellent snorkelling off the beaches and also within the large rock pools on the northern side of the island.
Please be aware the ocean, rock pools and swimming pool are not fenced off.
As with any unsupervised bodies of water, we kindly ask that you so nor swim solo, always swim with a buddy, or with someone watching closeby.
A member of the Vawa team is always happy to supervise nearby with the boat if you are out swimming around the island.
From November through to April, there is a higher likelihood of tropical downpour or storms in the South Pacific. Cyclone season tends to be around December, January, and February, these are not frequent weather systems.
From June to October, the weather is a little more stable and less prone to downpours and storms.

Vawa is also home to many endangered Fox and Mariana Trench Bats, a dozen pirate goats ( left there over a century ago by the first outside explorers of the island ), a few egg laying chickens, and a very friendly, gentle, formally stray dog from the mainland. He goes by the name Ricardo Montalban. He is now living his best life as a loved member of the island. He loves to escort our guests on excursions at times, and loves to catch crabs at low tide in the rock pools (the staff does feed him at the staff quarters, so he certainly doesn't need to live off a diet of crabs!) He loves a belly rub and to be told he's a good boy.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?
When we first arrived in Fiji we just knew we were going to create a life there. The locals were the nicest people we had ever met and the Yasawas are breathtaking through and through.
Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?
There is NO property in the Yasawas or Fiji quite like the property on Vawa Island. We went to great extremes to import materials not available. From Moroccan tiles, Syrian lighting, Turkish towels and robes, French Travertine for a One of. kind Pool, to Hungarian Farm furniture to soften the space.
