Loved it with welcomed challenge
The place is beautiful great place to get away view is amazing truly away from it all. Peaceful beautiful and quiet is the best way to describe it. I liked the fact that there were no televisions in the cabin was great to reconnect with family instead of all the distractions of today like television, cellphones, etc. Only negative is drive to nearest place is 45 minutes away, driving at night completely dark cannot see anything, and walking uphill to cabin with luggage gets tiring due to elevation. Definitely recommend if staying here to rent a 4x4 vehicle. Overall, would definitely visit again beautiful experience and owners instructions are very clear how to take care of property. No issues, loved the experience would definitely recommend if you want to experience a slower paced lifestyle compared to city life.
Great place to stay!
This is a well maintained very meticulously kept property. Credit Noah and Lila with their attention to detail here. Kitchen well outfitted for incoming guests. Super quiet relaxing cabin setup with great views.
Relaxing mountain hideaway
We loved our stay in this cabin. We used the main cabin as well as the extra guest house. It suited our family so well. The kitchen was well-furnished and allowed us to make most of our meals. We were so thankful for laundry, and we spent many evenings playing games and lounging in the living space. Our kids loved building a fort, climbing the boulders behind the cabin, and playing on the ziplines!
Our favorite hike was McCullough Gulch. It had a little bit of everything, and the views were spectacular. We highly recommend that hike--although it takes about 45-50 minutes to get to the trail head.
We also visited Jefferson Lake. Know that you will have to pay $7 to enter the area, but the lake was beautiful.
Just FYI: we had planned to fish, but it was harder than expected to find a place to buy the fishing licenses. Several sources said we could buy them in Jefferson, but that was not the case, and we had to drive to Fairplay to get them. Make sure you have social security numbers and picture id for anyone over 16.
When we were driving up to the cabin, we felt a little deflated because it felt more like we were driving through the desert. We had just been in beautiful mountains and then found ourselves decending into the valley. We didn't realize that the cabin was located more in a foothill; however, once we were in the cabin, it felt like we were in the more "traditional" mountains, and we grew to love the views of the surrounding ranges.
This really was a great place to hide out, and we appreciated feeling like we were somewhat secluded, even though there were neighbors. We never did see anyone from our space.
We would definitely return to this space. Thanks to the owners for sharing their space!
a very nice place for our 3 day stay.
Good choice to get away from it all. Roomy children's bedroom--complete with stuffed animals--on the first floor comfortably accommodates 3 kids, while a queen bed is in the loft upstairs. Note that even though the queen bed is a "Sleep Number" bed, I couldn't seem to find a setting that was very comfortable for me (but that may just be me). There is also a separate cottage away from the main cabin that can accommodate more people. Instant (tankless) water heater means you don't have to concern yourself with running out of hot water, although the tradeoff is that it can be a little noisy at times. No conventional oven inside (although they do have an electric cooktop); you may also consider using the fire pit outside for cooking hot dogs, foil dinners, or for use with a dutch oven. Gas fireplace kept the cabin plenty warm and cozy (adjustable by thermostat). We saw quite a few Steller's jays while we were there.
Beautiful clean, quiet cabin. Skies were completely dark at night -- loved seeing the stars! Great for a romantic getaway!
Mt Princeton Hot Springs was very relaxing. We hiked McCullough Gulch and Lizard Rock (1 hr south-ish) and visited nearby Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. Bring camera for spectacular views.
Nice cup of coffee in nearby Fairplay, the best gluten free cookies I've had in ages, and great croissants (beats Whole Foods croissants, anyway).
