We absolutely loved our stay at Sapphire Beach. The location is just amazing, views from the 2 balconies are perfect. The beach was awesome and was never crowded directly in front of the building. Most cruise ship folks seemed to stay further down the beach. Finding a spot was simple and we just tipped the chair attendant 2 each day and we left our towels there during the hottest times and returned later in the day. The attendant even knocked down a few guavas from the trees for us. The furniture and other things in the unit were well-loved in some cases as they get a lot of use. But wasn't too bad. There were a couple of odd layout items - no outlet where the coffee maker was, weird position of the tv in the bedroom, etc. Nothing too problematic. We found the downstairs full bath a bit nicer and spacious and used that primarily. There are 4 restaurants / bars at the beach and we usually ate there. We didn't rent a car, but probably would recommend if you stay more than 3-4 days as taxis downtown will cost about 50-60 round trip. Red Hook is very close and has groceries and more restaurants, but isn't really walkable due to the winding and narrow roads with no sidewalks to get there. Taxi round trip there is about 25. Our host Paul was great with good communication up front. And, he answered the phone immediately when we had a problem with the electronic lock and couldn't get back in (probably user error in hindsight).
