Terrible Experience, Cautious When Booking-Property Unavailable
I booked a 3-day stay through Vrbo on June 2, 2025, three weeks in advance, for a family visit in the area, traveling from Connecticut. The property was charged immediately, and I messaged the host via the Vrbo app, informing him of the purpose of my stay and who would be staying with me. I received no response or check-in details in the weeks leading up to the trip.On the morning of check-in, June 23, 2025, I messaged the host again from the airport in New York to request the access details, which were never provided. Within five minutes, he responded, bluntly stating, âThe house is not available. Iâm not sure why Vrbo would book it.â No apology, no explanation, no attempt to assist. My husband and I were left scrambling to find alternative accommodations last minute, causing significant stress and inconvenience.After contacting Vrbo, they confirmed that hosts are responsible with managing their listings, and the host failed to remove or update his unavailable property. He had three weeks to cancel my reservation and refund my paymentâespecially since he received my message and the payment immediatelyâbut chose not to. This lack of accountability and communication is unacceptable.I strongly caution against booking with this host. The hostâs negligence and dismissive attitude ruined our plans. VRBO did refund my money immediate and offered to help me find a different location. It Avoid this property at all costs.
