Refused to cancel our reservation, despite not being able to provide us with accommodations
We booked this property and were told by the host that it was under emergency repair and that we needed to cancel the reservation from our end. I knew that if I canceled the reservation myself I would not be reimbursed the vrbo fee and would lose my protected traveler guarantee. Having related this information to the host, they refused to cancel the reservation from their end saying "it is impossible." Vrbo called the host on 3 separate occasions asking them to cancel the reservation so that I would qualify under the protected traveler to find alternative accommodations, but they refused to do so. Vrbo even assured them that they could keep their premier host status simply by providing a picture of the emergency repairs that prevented us from using the unit, but they were still unwilling to cooperate. In the end, vrbo had to step in and cancel the reservation on their behalf but were unable to process the cancelation until an hour after we were supposed to check in and we were forced to find accommodations elsewhere on short notice ourselves. Would urge great caution if booking with this host.
