A little piece of paradise
My husband and I just love the little red cabin! This is our 3rd stay in the last 6 years. It’s super cozy, comfortable and spotless. You can not beat the location right on Lake Michigan. We will definitely be back!
Charming Lakefront Cottage
Everything went smoothly with booking and check-in. Property manager Sally was great with her communications. Cottage is very clean and just a few steps from the Lake Michigan. We enjoyed it very much and would like to return sometime when the weather is nicer!
Idyllic Lake Front Cabin
It’s difficult to put into words how idyllic this property is. It’s the type of place you would imagine a writer going for several months to “finish their novel”. It was spotless. The house is dark, but this sort of added to the ambiance. We did have an issue the first night figuring out the heating but that was due primarily due to our ignorance. The property is small and quaint and would be best suited to a couple, in my opinion.
The lake is 20-30 paces from the house and the view is simply stunning. The little path to the lake at this time of year was so lush and green with ferns and moss and giant trees. One of my favorite views was from the kitchen out the window looking down the path at the glimpse of lake. And the little spot for a lakeside fire was picturesque. I would love to go back!
Sweet Vintage Cottage
I rented this cottage for a six night getaway on my own. It was a delightful place to stay, perfectly sized for me. The beach front was a big factor in my choosing this place, just a short walk on a pay. Due to high water, the beach pretty much wasn't there, accept for an area that had two chairs, a sun umbrella, a fire pit and a bench (which was tucked back in the shade). I did walk down the shore a bit and found a small stretch of sand to walk on and pick rocks. I sat for hours watching the waves from the comfy chairs and playing in the sand, sifting for stones. The weather was varied so I got to see Lake Michigan in its many guises.
The cottage itself was charming, with a cool vintage vibe. The walls are pine; this plus the shade from trees meant the cottage was rather dark. Yes, lots of lights and lamps, which helped some. But lots of dark spots.
The bed was very comfortable. All the windows worked well so it was nice to open the cottage up to capture the lake breeze and hear the waves. The sofa by the window smelled quite musty--I just used the other one, a cool rattan piece with lots of cushions. The cottage decor was a fun blend of old and new.
This may sound silly, but I really appreciated the well marked trash and recycling bins. Most rental places I've stayed in don't have any info about recycling, which varies widely, leaving me unsure of what to do. The instructions for handling trash and recycling upon departure were very easy and clear.
Sally, the property manager was so great! Very easygoing and welcoming. She helped me find an oak tree (I collect acorn caps for fairy hats) on one of the other properties, which meant I had a fun mini tour riding in a golf cart! She knew interesting history about this and the other cottages--it's a kind of enclave, with multiple cottages and homes.
I was sad to leave this morning--I really enjoyed my time here, which was reminiscent of my childhood summers on Lake Huron.
We just wanted a little fun weekend getaway, and this place exceeded our expectations. Although it was cold, we had a blast. The fire pit by the water, roasting marshmallows, trying to fish lol, plus the view made this getaway everything our little family needed for a weekend. We easily could have stayed for the week. Even our bulldog rates this place five stars. He had more fun than all of us! Thanks Sally!
