Furnished House in Historic Augusta Neighborhood with Beautiful Screened Porch
A gorgeous 3 bed/2 bath historic home! The house was originally built in 1934 and known as Hillcrest Farm due to being located at the top of the hill coming up from downtown Augusta.
Also, we can't forget to mention the location! This house couldn't be in a better location. It is conveniently located 5 min from AU Medical Center/Campus and about 7 min from Downtown Augusta. Perfect for students or medical professionals!
If you like high ceilings and appreciate good décor, you will fall in love with this house!
Walking in the front door will put you in the living room with a 72" wall mounted TV above the gas fireplace. Heading toward the rear of the house you will pass through the dining room and into the recently, partially renovated kitchen with granite countertops and counter to ceiling windows that let in natural light. Going into the hallway, you will see a large guest room that is adjacent to a full bath that was recently renovated. On the other side of this bathroom is the Master bedroom with a completely renovated bathroom that you need to see to appreciate! It has 12 foot ceilings, a dual vanity, large shower, and natural lighting. Both of these bedrooms have 55" wall mounted TVs and four post queen beds.
The last bedroom also has a queen bed but does not have a wall mounted TV.
The laundry room at the back of the house and is equipped with a large capacity washer and dryer and a Dyson vacuum. Going through the laundry room will put you on the back porch/patio that sits between the house and a cottage (separate from the house). It is a great place to sit and have a cup of coffee when the weather cools down a bit!
And while the yard is not fenced, it does feel extremely private.
There is a separate cottage behind the house that is rented out via Airbnb. The cottage has it's own parking, trash/recycling bins, power, water, etc. and the cottage guest should only have minimal contact with the house guest. We have had this setup for over 2 years and have never had an issue or compliant!

I am originally from San Diego, CA but joined the Navy in 2004 and ended up all over the country. I finally came to rest in Augusta before marrying my gorgeous wife and moving to Greenville in 2023. Originally I had purchased this property to live in until retirement, but once we got married, we moved to Greenville, SC to be closer to her family. And while we don't live there anymore, I still love the house and continue to improve it!

I love history and old houses! Below is a brief history of this neighborhood which will show why I love this area.
Summerville, (commonly referred to locally as "The Hill"), is a large, affluent residential area and historic district located northwest of downtown Augusta, Georgia. The district is site of the historic homes of John Milledge, George Walton (a signer of the declaration of Independence), and Thomas Cumming. Summerville was built in the 1780s, and established as a separate village from the city of Augusta.
By 1850, Summerville became a four-season community. More permanent buildings and year-round homes sprang up as the town prospered. In 1861, Summerville was officially incorporated as a city with the boundaries defined as a circle for one-mile. Later on, Summerville became a fashionable luxury resort and golf capital with the construction of many hotels. This caused a large transformation — from a small summer resort for local residents to a winter playground for wealthy industrialists and politicians from the northern United States. Two hotels, The Partridge Inn and the Bon Air Hotel, hosted captains of industry and former presidents of the United States. Some built winter homes in the area, while others stayed permanently, escaping the harsh winters of the northern U.S.
Today, Summerville is a gem in the crown of Augusta. This neighborhood is unlike any other found in the Southeast, with nearly 2400 homes within its boundaries, each having its own special, eclectic charm, architecture, and history. Homeowners have maintained over the decades the uniqueness of every home, whether large or small. Each has its own special story. The Summerville Neighborhood Association is dedicated to continuing this tradition by speaking collectively for the homeowners in this unique area. We ask that you join, volunteer, and help maintain our collective vision.

There is actually some conflicting information about the date of this house. I tracked down historical records on it and there was a dwelling on the property around 1914 but all the other records indicate the house was built in 1934.
