The Tabacalera neighborhood has its origin in 1898 when a tobacco factory was established near the center of the city and the surroundings began to be occupied by the workers of this factory; This is why it gets its name.
In 1898 the Plaza de la RepĂșblica was inaugurated and the construction of the new Legislative Palace began, an unfinished project that would later become the iconic Monument to the Revolution, where the National Museum of the Revolution is located.
In addition to the monument, there are other places of interest such as:
* Fronton Mexico (site of the 1968 Olympic Games. It is said that part of the building was made with marble left over from the Palacio de Bellas Artes)
* El Moro building (it is considered one of the first skyscrapers in Mexico City)
* National Museum of San Carlos
* Theater of the Republic
* Jiménez Rueda Theater
* National Lottery Theater
* Tabacalera Park
The apartment is just a few blocks from Avenida Reforma and Insurgentes Sur, two very representative avenues of the city, and very close to Roma Norte, Condesa, Juarez, and Centro HistĂłrico.
The neighborhood can be easily explored on foot or by bicycle and you can move around all the streets and its neighboring neighborhoods such as La Condesa, La Roma, Juårez, Centro Histórico, and Cuauhtémoc.
Near the department, you can find various options to get around such as the subway, the Metrobus, and the Ecobicis.
If this is your first visit to Mexico City, we recommend using the Turibus for tours of the city.
