A romantic retreat for two in the grounds of a 14th-century mainson-forte, 5 km from the historic spa town of Vichy. Le Pigeonnier is a newly renovated, Meublé de Tourisme 3★ hideaway of 38 m² over two floors, with its own entrance, an ensuite bedroom with a 160 cm bed, kitchenette, air conditioning and heating, and a private rooftop terrace. Enjoy 2.6 hectares of peaceful parkland, the pool (open June-September depending on weather) and a private hot tub by reservation (open all year).

The Château de Champagnat is a 14th Century maison-forte, set in 2.6 ha of beautiful, peaceful parkland, ideal for walking and picnicing in the grounds.

The park and pool are shared with the family who live in a private apartment onsite, and any guests at our second gite, La Lodge. Combine La Lodge and Le Pigeonnier for a perfect stay for friends and family of up to 10 guests!

Please note: due to its layout (including a spiral staircase), this space is not suitable for children or guests with reduced mobility.

In addition to your own private accommodation, you have access to:

• The pool: shared with us and any other guests, open June to September, 10:00 to 22:00, depending on the weather.

• The hot tub: in its own building, for your private use by reservation, with slots available all year round from 10:00 to 19:00

• The 2.6-hectare parkland, for walks and picnics

We live on the estate, so you'll see us around, we respect your privacy and are happy to help with recommendations or anything you need. Le Pigeonnier has its own private entrance and roof-top terrace, so you also have your privacy and peace.

We will greet you in person on arrival with the keys.

Other details to note

• Le Pigeonnier is for 2 adults only. Because of the stone entrance steps, the spiral staircase, and the wells and small ponds in the park, it isn't suitable for babies, children or guests with limited mobility.

• Sorry, we can't accept pets.

• Electric vehicle charging isn't available at the château; we'll send you a list of nearby charging stations.

• Check in is from 15h00. Check out before 11h00.

• For up to 10 guests, you can also book La Lodge (sleeps 8), which has ramp access and a ground-floor bedroom and accessible bathroom.

Le Pigeonnier is in the quiet countryside at Cusset, 5 km from the centre of Vichy, the historic spa town, with its thermal spa, elegant architecture, parks, riverside walks and myriad restaurants (including Michelin-starred), theatre, casino, guided visits and golf.

Close by. The Via Allier cycle path, the medieval fortress town of Billy, wine tasting in the caves of Saint-Pourçain, and the Base Nautique de Saint-Germain-des-Fossés.

Further afield: Clermont-Ferrand (58 km), Moulins (55 km), the Puy de Dôme (75 km), the Château de Lapalisse (22 km) and the village of Charroux (30 km).

Its proximity to the A71 also makes a lovely stop off between the north and south, or east and west, of France.
