A bunkhouse reminiscent of the old gold-panning days. Roomy king size bed. Dining table, kitchenette area, and private shower. The porch has room for all to sit out and enjoy the sounds of the birds and feel the evening breeze.
You will be steps away from the boutique-style shops that are open for the First Monday Trade Days, otherwise, they are closed and everything is quiet and peaceful. The location is close to Interstate 20 and near the downtown of Canton, TX.

Scrabble Guest House

We had a great stay at Scrabble Guest House. The host, Beverly was awesome. The keeping accommodations were very comfortable. Quaint and quiet.

Very convenient to all things First Monday.

The owners are very nice and accommodating. The cabin was clean and stocked with all of the essentials. I have stayed on The Mountain in several different lodgings and would stay here again!

Such a magical little spot. The two beds in the loft were perfect for my nieces (10 & 11), they loved going up there. Just what we needed for a quick 2 night trip.

Very Private

Interesting location close to everything. Wasn’t expecting the surrounding shops that were in walking distance to the room. Really enjoyed our trip to Canton. Beverly was very helpful and communicated well to get us to our check in and lodging. Loved the theme rubber ducks that went with all the rooms.

Great Time on "The Mountain"

Perfect for our one night stay after shopping First Monday Trade Days. Unexpected, late night shopping and live music on The Mountain! Breakfast served the next morning was good! Beverly was excellent with her communication. I will stay again!

Western Town Winner!

This is nestled in a miniature western town in Canton, at trade days back door. The building facades and businesses are darling as you drive up the hill to the lodgings. We were here for Trade Days but got our weekend wrong. We instead explored the area and looked forward to coming back each evening to our cabin on the hill! The room is quaint and cozy. We appreciated all the little attention to detail we found everywhere. It was a magical adventure for us and the owners and staff were so accommodating and kind! Nice people, great food recs, and overall aesthetic have won a special place in our hearts and we look forward to returning! Be sure to check out the Roseland Plantation too—a short drive away and well worth it!

Girls Trip!!

We loved the bunkhouse. It was great staying up on The Mountain. Good food, live music and shopping. Beverly was a wonderful hostess. Our group of girls shopps Canton Trade Days at least 3 times a year. The Mountain is our new favorite place to stay! So much better than a hotel. See you soon Beverly! Sue Lind & the Bat Girls

Cutest cabin!

We took our kids for a short weekend trip and not only was the cabin SUPER adorable but Beverly and her husband were the BEST and most sweetest hosts! We definitely plan on coming back.

We are Timothy and Beverly Miller, newly retired and on a new adventure in our over 48 years of marriage. At the beginning of 2021, we purchased a few BnBs that needed some repairs and now have 11 Old West Frontier Suites ready to rent out.
Timothy was a lifelong professional Traffic Engineer for Fairbanks, AK - Auburn, WA - Abu Dhabi, UAE - Doha, Qatar - and Everett, WA. Beverly was an owner and manager of Christian Bookstores along with many other roles.

If you love outdoor flea markets, then Canton, Texas is definitely the place you have to explore. This city is popular for First Monday Trade Days, the largest and longest-running outdoor flea market in the US. Situated in Van Zandt County, over 170 years straight in operation.
During the Trade Days, The Old Mill Marketplace property, where you will be staying, has shopping, entertainment, and light dining until 10 pm. We even have a winery on site.

However, if you want to come to stay with us on non-trade days throughout the month, you will find a quiet peaceful getaway that will truly be relaxing from the busy life of the city. Hiking paths are found around the property.
There are over 24 birds that you can identify just from sitting on the porch of your suite. We have a list of them for you to check off.

We are the closest lodging to the Main First Monday Trade Days property. After a day of shopping and exploring at the Main Trade Days, you can rest up in your suite and then go browse the shops within steps from your cottage. There is evening entertainment, light dining, and a winery to enjoy a sip of wine with your friends until 10 PM.
