Jonathan's Lugar at Villa Amistad is a beautiful and traditional looking 1-bedroom studio, located on our Main level with its own private entrance within the property. Jonathan's is one of 3 other private apartments in the Villa. They all share two common terraces and the heated saltwater pool. Similar to a hotel, apartment building, or Condo where you have your private space and share common areas. Jonathan's Lugar and the Villa property greets guests with a blend of Mexican modern and traditional Vallartan architecture with walls of warm rich Mexican colors that become serene in the soft evening lights of the Villa. Tropical palms, flowering plants and vines are found throughout the property. The Villa's guests will be surrounded by traditional, indigenous, and one-of-a-kind paintings and folk-art pieces, handcrafted Parota wood furniture and doors created by local artisans, and beautiful Talavera tiles and pottery. The apartment features a king bed and private en-suite bathroom, allowing up to two guests to experience a home with a Mexican Vibe and all the comforts guests expect in a 21st Century stay. The king bed, with plush pillow-top mattress is appointed in luxury quality 100% cotton Percale linens, extra pillows, and a hand loom-woven blanket from Chiapas. Our water is both purified and pressurized onsite with endless hot and cold water. Our guests have told us they love receiving drinking water right from the tap that many say is better tasting than bottled! All pipes and faucets are new. Guests' comfort is maintained with refreshing ocean breezes, a ceiling fan and a mini-split air conditioner. The apartment's large sliding glass door opens onto its private balcony, with cafe seating for 2, overlooking the alley below. A great place to take a coffee, read a book, and watch the neighborhood come to life in the morning as local residences head off to work or play.
Stay connected with Puerto Vallarta's fastest available WIFI at up to 1GB(1000Mb/s) speeds throughout the entire property on a state of the art WIFI Mesh 6 network. A secondary internet service provider takes over in the rare event our primary provider should go down. Perfect for guests that must always be connected or work remotely. The heated saltwater pool is just a few steps away and is a great place to relax, cool off, and take in the beautiful sunsets. Jonathan's Lugar is serviced by our own full-time staff, making sure the property is well maintained and cleaned during your stay. Standard housekeeping is provided daily, except Sundays and major Mexican holidays. Amenities including fresh coffee from Chiapas, toilet paper, paper towels, shampoos and soaps are refreshed as needed and garbage is taken out for guests. Towels are refreshed upon request and linens are refreshed regularly for stays of 7 nights or longer.
The main Villa is located on two floors, Main floor and Top floor. The entry level located below the main Villa, is where guests enter the property from the street by keyless lock. The entry level is where two of our staff reside in a completely separate apartment and where our housekeeping and office are located. The main level above has the 2 shared terraces with large outdoor dining table that seats up to 9 people, lounge chairs, gas BBQ, and our ocean facing, heated, salt-water pool available 24/7. Jonathan's Lugar is located on the Main Level. The Penthouse, comprised of our 2-bedroom apartment, Ivan's Bella Vista and 1-bedroom apartment called Miguel's Mirador is located on the top floor. And next door to Jonathan's is our 2-bedroom apartment called Curiel's Retreat.
Jonathan's Lugar has a small kitchenette, private entrance, personal safe, seating area, private balcony, open design closet, A/C, an en-suite bathroom with spa-like rainshower, a a 4-person table that is excellent for meals or as a workspace. The kitchenette has a microwave, toaster oven, medium size fridge with small freezer section, coffeemaker, electric kettle, plates, bowls, silverware, glassware, acrylic ware for the pool, and fresh coffee from Chiapas.
Located in the heart of the origins of Puerto Vallarta, guests are able to walk right out the door to all of the favorite beaches, bars, restaurants, and venues in the Romantic Zone and Centro in minutes. The Malecon boardwalk, 5 of the top 6 restaurants, and the best art galleries are within 5 minutes’ walk. The famous Los Muertos Beach, other beaches, bars, nightclubs, and the heart of the gay nightlife scene are within 5 to 20 minutes’ walk from the Villa. Nowhere downtown is further than 20 to 25 minutes’ walk away. Uber, taxis and other rideshare services are readily available and very inexpensive. The hosts, who reside about a block away, are available to offer assistance and answer questions when requested. Having the staff and hosts nearby means that if something should happen, we can respond immediately. Laundry facilities with complimentary detergent, are available onsite and upon request.
The Villa was renovated with a modular design to allow it to be rented whole or as individual apartments. Each apartment is named after a close friend. Ivan's Bella Vista and Miguel's Mirador are located on the top floor. Curiel's Retreat and Jonathan's Lugar are located on the main level. Our concierge service, Faby, can assist guests with transportation needs and reservations. Guests receive a link to our digital guidebook after booking, with Faby's contact information and all the information needed for an enjoyable experience at the Villa and Puerto Vallarta. It contains full check-in instructions, suggested restaurants, massages, hiking, grocery/shopping, activities, and much more. Our guests rave about it, and we update it regularly.
Our neighborhood is where Puerto Vallarta began over 100 years ago. The area is a wonderful mix of families that have been here for generations, along with expats, snowbirds, and vacationers. During the winter holidays, the streets several blocks below us are filled with nightly processions, Dios de los Muertos and Christmas decorations, in May, the Pride Parade, only 5 minutes’ walk away. Our guests tell us they love the fact that they can easily go out on the town but, come back to a quiet retreat away from the noise and bustle.
Families with children are welcome and we have hosted many but, we wish to make sure that they know that the home is not childproof and there are known hazards including the pool has a drop-off behind it and no fence or gate. Windows open completely and stairs with no gates. The Villa also contains many easy to break or damage art pieces that cannot be replaced. Please inquire if you have more questions.

A small non-refundable Damage Waiver fee of $10USD will be included in the total price of the booking at check-out. This small fee is not based on the days booked and is a one time fee that provides the guest a waiver from financial responsibility for accidental, unintentional damage caused by the guest or their visitor during their stay up to $300USD, as long as the cause of the damage or loss is covered in the terms of the Damage Waiver. A Security Deposit Credit Hold (what most hotels do when they take your credit card information at check-in) is required to protect against loss and/or damage and to ensure that the Property is left in a reasonable condition of cleanliness, and in the same condition of repair as upon arrival. No money is collected and no transactions are created providing the guest with a convenient and simple method of providing the host a Security Deposit. The protection goes beyond the Damage Waiver protection. A hold is created on the Renter's credit card or debit card approximately 24 hours prior to check-in in the amount of the required Security Deposit. Our system instructs the renter's bank to hold the amount of credit or funds (if a debit card) on the card to insure that the money will be available in the event of damages, debts, or losses incurred. The hold is released no later than 7 days after check-out if no money is due the host. As it is not a transaction, the bank will not accrue interest on the hold amount. Our system will automatically attempt to place a credit hold of either 50% of the booking amount or $500USD, whichever amount is greater on the credit card/debit card currently on file at booking. Most guests prefer this simple method, that hotels already do, instead of providing a cash deposit or charging a card and then needing to refund the cash or card charge after check-out. Guests will be required to provide a cash equivalent amount of the Security Deposit in either USD or MXN before being allowed to check-in if a credit hold is not provided.
