Welcome to La Posada Mountain Retreat

When you book a stay with us, you are not just booking a stay you are booking an experience of a lifetime. Our views are the ultimate best in all of Utuado. We are not like other stays, we offer VIP tours directly from the property making your stay that more special. All of our guests leave happy for a reason and we want you to be able to enjoy as much as possible and experience the best of what our town has to offer.

Your Stay is in a spacious 3 Bedroom 2 bath pristine house centrally located in the heart of Puerto Rico. If desired you can rent the lower unit a charming 1/1 unit. Together both units can comfortably sleeping up to 8-9 people. The house alone can comfortably sleep 6 persons. The elevation of the property is approximately1800ft up so the nights and mornings get very cool. You will feel right at home with features like Quiet seating areas, Full kitchen, Dining Room, Outdoor Patio Bar, and many more amenities to make your trip extra special.
*** Just added brand new heated Infinity pool overlooking the mountains and city below.
The house is located in the barrio of Roncador and it is within a short distance to the Indian Ceremonial Grounds, rivers, and waterfalls. Beaches and shopping outlets are located within 30 mins.

The space
The House features 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms. The Large Cozy house features breathtaking Mountain View’s, a Smart TV with Satellite TV, A full Fridge with Freezer and a Stove/Oven. The apartment which is an additional price has a one bedroom one bathroom sleeps up to 2-3 with a pull out sofa and a mini kitchen .

Guests can enjoy the large patio areas or relax in the new heated pool. The covered porch has an outdoor bar seating space to enjoy the gorgeous views. The property is located on 3 acres with a garden you may pick fresh fruit from. Along with stables & peacocks, truly a beautiful spot.
A Great bed & breakfast home to enjoy the Puerto Rico weather all year long.

NOTE - We offer private VIP tours including fresh water fishing packages, Tanamá river cave tour & horse back riding packages. If you want a private massage on site that can also be arranged. Also we have a TAXI driver. For more information please inquire. Please note this is a 3 acres property with animals. We do live on property to take care of the animals and the property. Also we are on solar hot water hence hot water is variable depending on weather conditions

Best hosts of all time! Jose and Christine are so accommodating. Beautiful views from the house and the pool. Comfortable beds. Jose makes a fantastic macchiato! They have great knowledge of local sights and food. Take their advice, you won’t regret it. They organized a horse to be brought there for my daughter. She spent the day riding around the property. All the animals are friendly (even the goat). We will hopefully stay again!

The heated pool was a hit.Our main house unit had great views, as did the common space.The Retreat property has several units and the owner on property are helpful.Jose and Christine added value to our time.Amazing coffee in the AM looking at the clouds mist away from the mountain view. Nature experience with farm animals, a photo-op mural and a bar for drinks or to enjoy as is. They also have power systems outside of LUMA, allowing power to run when LUMA is out (big plus!).Owners are insightful on activities and food in the area.GO TO THE LOCAL BAKERY! Overall, looking for a get away in the mountains, this is it!

This was an amazing experience. It was exactly what we needed and a great break from the beaches and coastal tempo. Everyone in Utuado was wonderful and Christine and Jose were very warm and welcoming for my children and family. We spent 3 weeks in Puerto Rico, from one side of the island to the other and this is the place that the kids wished they could spend more time.I had been looking to see a coqui since I first heard them and for over two weeks never saw one. In a few seconds Jose was able to go into the brush and bring out one for the kids to see. It was amazing for everyone.The neighbors were great and even brought a pony for the kids to ride. They loved the experience and I highly recommend anyone that wants to see a very beautiful and different part of Puerto Rico than what gets advertised come out and see Utuado and Jose and Christine. Just a beautiful place with views that are amazing. Watching a thunderstorm roll across that valley from that mountain top was something we were glad we could experience. All of that topped with some fireflies. Highly recommended and we hope to go back again some day.

La Posada Mountian retreat is a great place to go to explore, relax and recharge. Jose and Christine are the ultimate hosts. They are accommodating, welcoming and make you feel like you are part of their family. My family spent 3 days there but we fell in love with it immediately. We were unable to do day trips with Christine, but I know that they would make it an unbelievable and unforgettable experience. We will definitely set up a tour with them when we can return. The Pool was so much fun. It is heated so when it is cooler at night it is still very comfortable. We stayed in the 3 bedroom unit. It has air conditioning, we opted not to use it because it was very comfortable for us with the fans and breeze from the mountains. Jose was an amazing barista and treated us to latte’s and americanos each morning. The kids really enjoyed seeing their beautiful creatures especially Mr. Peabody, their ostrich, who was very friendly and Luna,the goat, who acted like a big Labrador loving pets. They have horses and offer horseback tours, my boys were too small but I can only imagine how incredible that would be. By far and away La Posada Mountain house blew us away. The view is breathtaking, hosts are welcoming. Truly and enchanting stay. Thank you so much!!

We had a wonderful time staying here. The hosts were wonderful, the gardener was really excited to talk about the plants on the property, and the animals were very cute. My kids particularly enjoyed the peacocks and got to eat some bananas freshly harvested. This house is more suited for an adventurous family with older kids (ours are 10 and 12) that can handle the windy roads and like activities such as jumping from rocks into the river or kayaking through a cave. The sunrise was amazing!

Amazing views, great space and amenities. The surrounding area is so peaceful and the drive up is an adventure all on its own, but still very manageable. The animals that live and roam in the area make for a fun and unique experience. The house was more off-grid than expected; hot water was hard to come by and made washing dishes and showering less than ideal. The hosts do live on the top floor of the house but keep to themselves and are eager to make your stay better. Their son is also on the property and keeps to himself for the most part. Overall, La posada is a relaxing and unique experience.

The property does have a solar hot water heater. Unfortunately during this particulars guest stay it was raining almost every day. Due to the lack of sun the solar hot water system was unable to provide enough hot water. When the sun is out the system performs as it should. Also in both bathrooms there are widow makers that compliment the system.

Obviously these pictures are when they checked out and left a huge mess. We would never give a rental unit to a guest in the condition they left it and on top of it with broken items. False review obviously after reading all the other reviews. I can only say it’s very unfortunate these guests did not communicate whatever concern they had directly with us or we would have gladly insured their concerns.

We had an amazing time here! Incredible location, and the very friendly and helpful hosts provided clear directions for finding the house and checking in. The pool was great, the various patios were relaxing, and the view is indescribable. Lovely property with a variety of animals (horses, goats, peacocks, cats, etc) that the kids and I enjoyed meeting

Best mountain get away!

Can not recommend this place enough. When you stay here you are not just getting a home to stay in…but an extended family that go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and show you beautiful Utuado. I have never ever stayed in a vrbo that has gone so above and beyond. We will be back!!!

A magical good vibes place. Jose and Christine are beyond exceptional hosts. We enjoyed every minute with them, with their private tours and greeting. Top Notch. We really enjoyed our stay! Hosts went above and beyond to give us recommendations for places to eat and visit! Sunrise and sunsets were amazing! Highly suggest a stop at El Resuelve de Roncador on the way up the mountain!
