Vacation in Puerto Carrillo

The property is beautiful. It is in the heart of the jungle and we had so much wildlife come right into the yard.Howler monkeys,capuchin monkeys,coatimundis,foxes,iguanas,macaws,parrots and much more. We rented a golf cart because it is too far to walk to most places of interest especially the beach. The beach is beautiful

Very nice property in the nature

It is a very nice property in the nature and yet easily accessible. Supermarkets, restaurants, beach etc. is all nearby. Everything you need is available in the accommodation. Beautiful well-kept grounds and clean. Ideal for a vacation in Costa Rica. Just relax in the hammock or enjoy the pool. The landlord is nice and responds promptly to requests. We will be happy to come back.

No view. Not on the beach.

Pictures of the property fail to show new construction that completely detracts from the property, blocking what view it had and obstructing air flow with what appears to be an insurance office/penitentiary style '2nd villa'. What an eyesore! This was advertised as a view property but it is not. Beach is a long walk away. The only redeeming feature is the hotel restaurant next door - it is fantastic!

First the house was beautiful, the pool was great. I didn't realize it was about 2 hours from the airport, but as stated in the listing you will definitely need a car. I would also plan to have groceries delivered or someone to purchase them before your stay. The house manager is very friendly. Our flight was delayed and he waited until we arrived. VRBO advertises a 4 bedroom, but if you want to use the entire property it is going to cost you extra. The bad parts- The house was not dirty, but it wasn't cleaned very well. The grill was pretty gross, we just didn't use it. The bathrooms had mold on the tile and looked like they were quickly cleaned. It's nothing a little vinegar and water couldn't fix. The cleaning lady came while we were in the house she swept only the floor that wasn't covered by rugs, didn't vacuum the rugs or wash the floor mats and made the beds. I know she went into the showers but I honestly don't know what she cleaned. It seems like she takes advantage of the fact that the owner lives in another country and can't check her work. Second problem.- we didn't have hot water until the day before we left. To his credit, the owner was very, very responsive and sent the house manager out immediately. They had to replace a water heater, so it took time. It was so hot that the cold water was not a bad thing. You won't be sorry if you stay here but I would request a cleaning from an actual cleaning company.

Beautiful house and great place to stay!

The house and property are absolutely gorgeous. The house comes with amenities that are common on North America, but not always common in a Costa Rica home. My family and I greatly appreciated all the extra touches that made this house feel just like our own home. The pool was wonderful and a great place to spend the afternoon after being at the beach. We loved the location and the Carrillo beach has to be the best one in Costa Rica. Would definitely stay here again!!

Super semaine à Playa Carrillo

Nous avons passé une merveilleuse semaine à Playa Carrillo à la Casa Beamaju. La maison était superbe, un peu en retrait, calme et relaxe...La Pura Vida! Les commodités sont près (épicerie et restaurants) et que dire de la plage! Merci à Richard pour tes bons conseils...Nous avons beaucoup aimé notre séjour!

Endroit exceptionnel

Nous venons de découvrir un endroit très sécuritaire où nous allons revenir régulièrement. D’abord les propriétaires sont des gens d’exception. Ils sont honnêtes, disponibles et dévoués. La villa est d’une architecture respectueuse du Costa Rica, spacieuse, confortable et propre. La construction est d’une excellente qualité. La villa est extrêmement bien située. La tranquillité est au rendez-vous et le site est extraordinairement beau. Nous avons l’impression d’être au milieu de la jungle à quelques minutes des plages et des commodités. Assi sur une chaise berçante ou simplement à partir de la piscine, vous y verrez plusieurs singes, une grande variété d’oiseaux et de papillons. Félix le jardinier et Gisele la dame de maintenance, font un travail exceptionnel. Nous étions deux adultes et deux adolescents et y avons séjourné durant un mois en juillet 2017. Dès la première journée, nous nous sommes senti comme à la maison. Nous avons eu la chance de visiter plusieurs endroits du Costa Rica durant notre séjour. À tous les fois que nous revenions à la villa, nous étions tous unanime que le plus bel endroit demeure Carillo. Puisque notre long séjour a été plus que parfait, il est donc évident pour nous que nous ne prendrons pas le risque de séjourner ailleurs! Je vous recommande très fortement cette villa.

Endroit formidable

Belle villa tres propre bien situé a 5 min en voiture de la plage endroit superbe et en plus les propriétaires sont super gentil et on de très bon conseil pour vous aidé à choisir activités ou bon resto sa fait 2 fois qu on y va et j y retournerais sans hésiter vraiment une très belle expérience

Great Pool, Decent House, Poor Service

Me, my wife, and our two daughters spent five weeks in Costa Rica and one week at this villa in Carrillo. We enjoyed the seclusion and serenity of the villa and the pool. The furnishings, decor, and cleanliness of the villa were decent. Futons for couches and beds were a little hard. Dealing with the owner was a challenge. The house is very hard to find and the owner does not give adequate directions. The internet did not work for the first few days, we let the owner know, he responded that it worked for the previous guests. We spent an afternoon at the neighboring hotel which "supposedly" offered access to villa guests. They charged us $50, the owner responded that they don't charge him. He did eventually get the internet working. Felix the gardener was nice and kept the pool in great shape. However, he often showed up at 6AM and we would wake up, look out the sliding glass window from our bed, and there he was - strange. Overall, this could be a five star rental with better furnishings and service. Next time in Carrillo, we will look to stay elsewhere.

Un lugar ideal para descansar

Excelente lugar para descansar y alejarse de la ciudad, cerca de las playas y supermercados. Rente el lugar del 4/7/2015 al 8/7/2015, con mi esposa y mis dos hijos adolescentes. El lugar muy limpio, habitaciones amplias y confortables y la cocina muy bien equipada. Excelente opción espero volver y seguro se lo recomendaré a mis amigos

Beautiful Carillo home

What a wonderful place to stay, in one of the best beach destinations in Costa Rica. From the very beginning the owner was incredibly helpful with booking the trip and helping us with local insights/advice on what to expect in the Carillo/Samara area. The house is exactly as advertised, simple, functional decor, and absolutely lovely! The home was lovely and clean on our arrival, with everything you need for every day living. The pool is wonderful! Well maintained and the temperature was perfect; shaded at just the time you wanted it in the later afternoon after a perfect day at Carillo beach. The property is private and quiet, which is exactly what we were looking for. The air conditioners, fans, cable TV and internet all worked well. Playa Carillo is breathtaking, such a fabulous beach that is just perfect day after day. We went to 12 other beach destinations, Carillo outshone them all! Great family beach, waves are fun but not scary, great for our group that varied in age from 4 to 71! You can buy all your basics in Carillo, or get more variety/restaurants close by in Samara. We ate mostly at home, but enjoyed some great meals out. Our best meals were at El Lagarto, a BBQ, seaside restaurant in Samara,higher end but delicious, and Al Manglar Bar & Pizzeria, fabulous Italian, great hostess, and prices were great. Hula Jungla is just down the street in Carillo, and is also a good choice for a decent meal out. A car is almost a necessity, although the buses do go by just down the street every hour. I would certainly come back, and would recommend this place to friends and family.

A little piece of paradise!

A really nice home, we stayed for a week and a half and we really loved our time! A lovely backyard with a clean pool, nice flowers, a big terrace for bbq or enjoying a drink outside and a really cool place to eat outside. We also had internet and AC. The place was very clean and well maintained, a gardener came every morning to clean the pool and the garden and a maid took care of the house before our arrival so everything was very clean! The house is only 5 minutes by car from the beautiful Carillo beach. I've been to a lot of beaches in Costa Rica, and this one still my favorite place. Carillo is calm and pretty beautiful, but at the same time, you are near of Samara which is more busy if you want (bar on the beach, lot of tourist, surf, etc.). I recommend the fishing day trip from Carillo which was pretty fun! I absolutely recommend this place, a charming house in a gorgeous town where you will appreciate every appeal that Costa Rica offers!

Wouldn't recommend it

The house is pretty but it's poorly kept. We arrived and when we opened the kitchen trash can we found rotten trash full of insects, clearly that hadn't been cleaned in months or at least weeks. Next morning we found dust, moths, mold and spiderwebs in all the closets, and used sheets in one bed. When we told this to the caretaker he said "I'm too busy, I don't have time" so we had to email the owner. After several emails and after realizing that he wasn't taking our word we gave up, but luckily he ended up sending a maid the next morning. Even she said that the house was very dirty and that she would call the maid that was in charge of that house to tell her about the situation. The grill was disgusting, even had spiderwebs, again: clearly not cleaned in weeks or months; we also had to ask the new maid to clean it. (Unfortunately this website won't allow me to upload the pictures that show all these situations). Regarding the add, there are several things that are not accurate. There is no internet (or at least it never worked during the week that we were there), there is no daily maid service. No hand soap in any bathroom (we bought our own), one half way used toliet paper in each bathroom (for 1 week that's not enough for 6 people, so we also bought our own). But in the end, we realized that there was little the owner could do from Canada and that his maintenance staff was not very efficient so we decided to enjoy our time there and initially decided against writing a bad review. However, I just opened an email from the owner, in which he tells me that the owner from a nearby hotel told him that we were 15 people in the house (we were 8) and that we had 3 dogs (we had 2 and they left as soon as we were reminded that there were no pets allowed... our bad and we apologized). It is absolutely disrespectful to send someone to surveil your guests. All these situations and actions make us not want to recommend this property.

excellent stay

this house stands on a small hotel premises. All hotel services are available for the renter, and this makes life easier. Very peaceful, nice gardens, beach at about 2 km, but hotel has a trailer with everything (including water) there, and this helps, believe me. The villa had a pool problem, but hotel staff proposed another one, next to it, very similar. Very comfortable. Accurate description, property is well maintained, helpful owner. Playa Carrillo is much better than samara, on a "beachy" standpoint, however, frequent trips to samara (15 min drive), are required since samara has much more services. Go to Gusto restaurant, next to the ATM. Best in town, prices still affordable. Both Carrillo and Samara are away from attractions, so car is needed. For example, the rincon de la vieja is a 2 hr trip, but you have the best of several worlds at a minor cost. I would definitely recommend this property. On top of this, price is more than attractive! thanks! eric

Fully renovated in 2020.
Designed and built under owners supervision in 2008 and 2020. First section was built in 2008. A new section was added in 2020 to accommodate larger groups. It offers a well equiped kitchenette, 2 more rooms with each its own full bathroom, small terrasse and exterior shower. The main building has also been renovated in 2020. It has been repainted (interior and exterior), swimming pool fully renovated with new tiles and lights, main terrasse has been extended and the exterior shower renovated with new tiles and faucets. We also built a 2 vehicles car port for a maximum of protection from the sun.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

Peaceful, quiet, private and secure property. Far enough from Samara to enjoy the Pura Vida without the noise and crowd but close enough to benefit from it. The restaurant at our italian neighbour hotel Leyenda is a must that you can enjoy at walking distance.
