Maison isolée avec Dock dans le marais

Mace House est une belle maison familiale située dans un quartier calme et isolé, du côté continental du ruisseau à marée de Pawley, où la mousse est suspendue au chêne et au cerf. Situé sur le continent à travers le marais de l'extrémité sud de l'île, cette maison dispose d'un quai privé sur la façade le long du marais et est toujours détenue par la famille qui l'a construit en 1972.

Une grande véranda avec hamac, balançoire, et des chaises berçantes surplombe le marais côtier où le quai privé donne accès au crabe, la pêche, le kayak et l'observation des oiseaux - des aigrettes, des hérons et des balbuzards pêcheurs dans le marais et les bruants peintes et engoulevents dans les bois . Les portes en verre à travers la pièce principale vous permettent de profiter de la vue magnifique dans le confort de AC ou de la chaleur, ou vous pouvez les ouvrir et apporter les brises de mer dans la maison.

Sous la maison, les éviers et les douches vous permettent de nettoyer avant de mettre les prises dans la cuisine spacieuse et une grande cheminée rend la grande salle confortable pour les périodes plus fraîches. Un court trajet en voiture ou en bateau, en fonction de la marée, vous emmène à la plage de l'historique Pawley pour la natation, le surf, et la marche. (Kayaks sont disponibles à la location pour 75 $ par semaine pour une personne, 100 $ par semaine pour deux personnes, et 150 $ par semaine pour trois.)

Ceci est un endroit parfait pour une famille de sortir du monde et de passer du temps ensemble avec notre petite collection de livres et de jeux, ou avec ceux que vous vous apporter. La maison est assez grande pour offrir la vie privée ainsi.

A proximité se trouvent le golf de classe mondiale, shopping, maisons historiques et des églises, et des restaurants en abondance. Overall, the property is peaceful and convenient to marsh activities such as kayaking and relaxing on the dock. The property offered ample space for multiple family members. The kitchen was stocked with supplies for basic needs and daily dining/food preparation. Check-in of the property was simple and we had no problems getting in. When we encountered an air conditioning leak and issues with kayak locks not working, the owner was very responsive and the issues were resolved.

This house is a hidden gem. Literally hidden. Theres only a few houses around you. Its close enough to enjoy all the area has to offer but secluded enough to avoid the crowds if thats your thing

Great Week on the Marsh!

My family loved this vintage, charming home in Pawley's Island! Located on a tidal creek and marsh, it had it's own private dock. The backporch was a great place to swing or rock and enjoy nature, peace and the view. The downstairs had a large living room open to the kitchen and dining areas...this was very conducive to family fun and fellowship; at the same time, 4 private bedrooms gave opportunities for solitude as desired. There is lots to do in the area...we especially loved Georgetown and Huntington Beach State Park. Nancy, the host, was pleasant, responsive and very helpful. Modern, cookie-cutter places that are predictable but without character are a dime a dozen, but this place felt like a comfortable, lived-in home with a little wear and a lot of love and character! We're so glad we had the chance to enjoy this wonderful property!

Refreshing stay on the marsh!

Lovely house with everything needed to enjoy both home and marsh. Great AC, wonderful view, able to enjoy the marsh on the traditional low country pier and via several kayaks, wonderful screened in elevated front porch (with fans, rocking chairs, hammock, and swing), close to public beach via car or kayak and to top it off, a quick and responsive property manager. Nothing to complain about.

Peaceful home away from home

We just stayed at Mace house and we were so pleased. Everything was as listed, if not better. The kitchen was so well stocked with everything we could need. The area was so peaceful. My parents, husband, two sons and I all enjoyed the house very much. We saw so much wildlife while sitting on the dock and screened in back porch. We all relaxed listening to the birds, ocean and rain from the porch as well. Unfortunately, we were there during tropical storm/hurricane Debbie, however Nancy emailed and kept us well informed of the weather and what we needed to do in case of flooding. A neighbor even came by to make sure we knew where to move our cars and if we needed any help. Nancy was always very helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had leading up to and during our stay. Despite the weather, we had an amazing time full of memories. It was definitely a home away from home.

Great Location, House Needs Cleaning and Updating

I'll start by saying that I've never given a negative review on VRBO, but I want to give an honest picture of our stay. The location of the house is great. Our family loved the dock and the short drive to the beach. We enjoyed fishing for crab, kayaking, and exploring the marsh. It's close to many great restaurants and activities. The house itself was not what we expected. The furniture is very old and falling apart, there was a ton of dog hair under the couches, master bed, and on the stairs. The air intake was completely covered with dust and pet fur. The throw pillows on the beds and mattress pads were badly stained. The glassware is cloudy and etched from years of use. Overall it didn't feel like it was setup to be a rental. If you go in knowing that your renting for the location and not the house, you'll enjoy your stay. If you're looking for clean and updated accommodations, this is not the place. I know the host will say we should have contacted them, but it feels awkward to ask them to have someone come clean the whole house as soon as we arrive.

Back porch great…otherwise not

I don’t like to give negative comments, however, if you’re looking for cleanliness, good mattresses. And comfortable living area seating you would be disappointed at this home. That said, the back porch was great!

Lovely stay

My husband and I usually spend some time in Pawley's Island every February. We've rented condos, but this time decided to rent a house so we could share it with our kids and 18-month-old granddaughter. It was the perfect spot for our family. It is located in a quiet spot with friendly neighbors. The place was very clean, roomy, furnished comfortably and had every possible kitchen appliance and tool you could ask for -even a salad spinner!! The screened in porch was a great place to enjoy a coffee in the morning or a nightcap in the evening while watching the moon sparkling on the water. It took a day or two for us to get the thermostat just right but, that was a minor annoyance. All in all, I would highly recommend Mace House for a short- or long-term stay.

Great stay at the Mace!

What a lovely, relaxing week in the comfy Mace House. We really enjoyed the homey feel and the beautiful marsh views from the roomy back porch. Every amenity we needed was there and we hope to return someday! Highly recommend the Mace House and its host, Nancy.

Perfect Spot for a Getaway!

This wonderful home feels like you’re returning to a family vacation spot. With a perfect location on the marsh, the porch provides relaxing views of the water and wildlife with the roar of the ocean drifting in from the east. The dock is great for embarking on a water journey or just relaxing and bird watching. The main room is spacious and looks out across the yard, on to the marsh and on to the dunes. The neighborhood is quiet and yet close to shops, grocery stores and restaurants.

A great vacation

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mace House. The house is clean, quiet and located in a great place for relaxation and birding. It is a few miles outside of town, so a car is essential. The home is comfortable, roomy and relaxing. We especially enjoyed the screen porch. There is everything you need for cooking at home, but excellent restaurants nearby. The purpose of our trip was birding and the area did not disappoint. We visited Litchfield State Park every day, went to Brookgreen Gardens 5 times, enjoyed the Marshwalk at Myrrells Inlet, and walking on the docks in Georgetown. And lots in between. There are plenty of other activities in the area such as golf and the Boardwalk in Myrtle Beach. But just staying at the house, reading, knitting and walking in the neighborhood was fun too. We had or corgi Willow with us and she had a great time, too! The homeowners were easy to contact and addressed the one issue we had immediately. We would not hesitate staying at Mace House again. The quiet neighborhood on a marsh was just what we were looking for, and we loved our stay.

Great place at Pawleys!

We had a wonderful stay at this house! The house was very clean on arrival, and the accommodations were excellent. We rented the kayaks as well and had an absolute ball with them. When you rent this house, definitely rent the kayaks as well. Thanks to these owners for allowing us a fantastic vacation!

Magnificent Marsh Setting

This property is beautifully situated on the marsh overlooking Pawleys Island. The sunrises are magnificent from the back deck and dock. Additionally, the house is clean and well equipped. If you like to kayak, this is the place for you. The property is conveniently located on a marsh creek and is well equipped for kayaking. The grounds are also well kept and beautiful. We had a wonderful and restful two weeks. We had our coffee each morning watching the sunrise over the marsh. It is only a 10 minute drive to the beach or kayak across the marsh.

Mace house

Everything was as described. Beautiful marsh views and access. We watched the sunrise over the water everyday drinking coffee on the porch. Close enough to all the local restaurants and attractions but off the beaten path to enjoy seclusion and quiet nights.

Lovely gem on marsh

Lovely older house with open floor plan downstairs and huge elevated screen porch facing marsh. Floating dock with kayaks. Easy access to Pawleys Island, Muriel’s Inket, Georgetown, Brookstone Gardens and Huntington Beach state park. House on each side are rentals but neighborhood is isolated and very quiet and friendly. A great place to chill or as center of activities. Host was great!

Mace House is owned by Nancy Mace Kreml, Jane Mace Davis, and John Davis. Nancy and Jane are retired teachers: Jane taught math at Irmo High School and Nancy taught English at Midlands Technical College, both in Columbia. John Davis edited South Carolina Wildlife magazine, and now paints wonderful wildlife scenes. Jane and John also have a house near Brevard, NC, and Nancy (and her husband Bill) have an apartment in Evanston, IL, near Chicago--but we all live in Columbia much of the year with cats, dogs, and other tame and not so tame animals!

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

Our parents, Mary and Parke Mace, built the house in 1972, and our family has enjoyed it ever since. The marsh is the true heart of all our memories, and we're so happy every spring when the first warm evening lets us take cold drinks out to watch the sunset from the dock. Our parents and grandparents spent summers at Pawleys, and now our children and (future)grandchildren do, too. Pawleys offers beautiful beaches and marshes, fascinating history, great golf courses, excellent fishing and crabbing, and easy access to Georgetown, Murrell's Inlet, and Charleston, as well as the Francis Marion National Forest.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

We've always thought that paradise is in the marsh at Pawley's. When we're there, you'll always find us on the dock at sunset, eating supper on the porch, or curled up to read by the fire if the evening is cool. We always like to take a trip to Brookgreen or a nature tour at Hobcaw, eat out or buy fresh-caught seafood and cook it ourselves, play games or watch a movie, and best of all, kayak in the marsh to see egrets, herons, ibis, eagles and other wonderful creatures. And every summer, we swim in the perfect surf on Pawley's beach!
