The house invites you to truly experience the beauty of the area with doors and windows to open wide and let in the fresh tropical air. Indoor spaces and outdoor spaces become one. The home offers a feeling of grandeur combined with serenity and peace of mind. Enjoy natural, wide plank wood floors and vaulted ceilings with wood beams.
All (4) bedrooms (one is a loft) provide air conditioning. Primary bedroom offers a king bed and full adjoining bath with tile shower. Secondary bedroom offers a full bed, two single beds and full adjoining bath with tile shower. Cozy third bedroom provides a bunk bed with full bed on the bottom and single on top, plus adjoining full bath with tile shower. The fourth bedroom is a private loft with queen mattress.
Primary living space inside the home is a large living room with oversized doors on both ends which open to porches and let in the fresh seaside air. This space includes a pair of comfy couches, a table for 4 and a desk with high speed fios internet/wifi, provided at no cost. The primary living space outside (and undoubtedly the guest-favorite!) is the spacious front porch, strung with cafe lights. The porch offers a dining table for (8), couch and rocking chairs, twin hammocks, plus built in benches for extra seating. A galley style kitchen is fully stocked with all appliances and appointments - full sized refrigerator and stove with oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and blender, plus plentiful dishes, flatware, pots and pans. There is also a water dispenser to provide cooled or heated bottled water.

In 1998 when I was 17 years old my Dad had to speak at a conference in Puerto Plata D.R. My Mom was going with him so my parents pulled me out of school and brought me down. My neighbor, Barbara Weaver, owned a vacation home just a few hour drive from Puerto Plata and told my parents to take an extra few days and stay at her Portillo House. She didnât have to ask twice, we were in. At 17 this trip became my first real international experience and my love for the D.R. was started. Over the next 6 years I traveled many times to different parts of the D.R. for a mission trip with our church and interning one summer outside Santo Domingo.
In 2005, Meg and I spent our honeymoon at the Portillo house. Meg and I spent a week at the house that I fell in love with in 1999.
From 2005 to 2015 life happened. Busy at work, not much travel money in the budget and kids. My heart was calling me back to the D.R. Meg and I did a quick Punta Cana trip for a weekend with no kids. It re-ignited my love for the D.R. The next year I found the âPortillo Houseâ on VRBO. I said âMeg we have to rent this house and take the kidsâ. We did just that. Over the next few years we vacationed multiple times at the house. Covid shut us down in 2020 but by spring of 2021 we were back in El Portillo at the beach. While there, Meg and I made the jump. We made an offer on the house. Five months later I was able to spend my 40th birthday weekend at the house before the upcoming closing. I did not have cold feet or second guesses, I was only excited to share this place with others, just as it had been shared with me.
We are excited for you to enjoy this slice of heaven that has been such a big part of our lives.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?
The close proximity to the beach and gated community makes it great for families and for couples looking for a quiet getaway. We love the fact that it is a single family home with its own yard. There is so much to do in the area as well. We love to mountain bike, hike to the waterfall, zipline, surf or just drive around and find remote beaches. Las Terrenas is close and gives plenty of opportunity to go out and enjoy the night life and shopping.
Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?
One of the biggest if not the #1 feature of the house is the full time cook and housekeeper. Yisel is the soul of the house and will make your vacation one to remember. You won't need to cook or clean. Just sit back and enjoy yourself and Yisel will take care of the rest!
