Great little mountain cabin
Perfect size for solo or couple, or even small group of 3-4 people. Clean, equipped with all appliances and kitchen amenities you'd need. Window AC unit was a nice surprise, kept things cool during a late summer heat wave, as did the great little 'mountainside' pool which was great for a dip after some hot day hikes (on the property, which has trails going into the Pike!). Tom and Deb are great hosts; Tom stopped over for a quick in-brief to give the lay of the land and cabin and were available for any questions throughout the stay. The best part was unplugging - sitting on the deck sipping coffee in the morning and listening to the wind blow through the pines and aspen - great! But with full wifi and DirectTV, was able to keep up on any news and football scores/games! The cabin is a short distance from lots - in addition to those listed in the page, a great drive down and back up the Platte River valley, golf at Arrowhead, hike Devil's Head trail and fire tower overlook, Red Rocks, and of course Denver. Also some prime 4-wheeling territory close, based on seeing some of the nearby road traffic with lots of trucks hauling cool 4-wheeling vehicles. The property (with cabin and lodge) are off a canyon road, easily accessible in summer by regular car. Tom and Deb were great and easy to deal with, great communication.
Looking forward to a return visit someday!
Thanks so much for staying with us. You were the perfect guest!!
Een heerlijke boshut / A delightful cabin in the wood
During our three week journey through Colorado, Utah and Wyoming we’ve spent a couple of relaxing days at this wonderful and comfortable place. Not using our rental car for at least one whole day was our goal, in which we succeeded the day after a visit to Lodo Denver to please our daughter. We really would have liked to have the chance to leave the car alone for the rest of the week too, but our travel program forced us to continue our sightseeing trip (to other marvels).
Proprietors & neighbours Tom and Deb Jordan gave us, without interfering with us, the feeling to be very welcome. Tom recommended some nice trails we could do in the surroundings. Important for us was that what we hoped to find after looking at the pictures would be reality. To be in reality in this wooden ‘treehouse’, nestled against those huge boulders, where we could find shade any time of the day on the deck when it was a very sunny day, was even so much more rewarding. The cold pool was cool too!
We were with three of us. Our daughter slept pretty well on the sofa bed. Nights were silent. In the daytime you may wonder where everybody is heading for on a road (we couldn't see from our house), which is unpaved a few miles ahead and leads only to some hamlets. It happens to be a weekend parade of motorcyclists! But they didn’t manage to spoil our good mood.
Wildlife around the house was restricted to squirrels, chipmunks and hummingbirds, who amused us the whole day long. Interior design and furniture was definitely to our taste, pleasant lighting when dark outside, funny bears in every corner to smile to you. It’s a very nice house to wander about on your flip flops and to change the perspective of staring over the edge of your book by choosing another chair to sit in. We brought home plenty of foodstuff from the grocery. Basics as sugar and cooking oil were provided. As well as toilet paper of course, which was of the best quality (a detail often ignored). The oven produced (instructed and prepared by Erika) a delicious moussaka. The starry nights were amazing for a city man from Amsterdam. And there were no gnats to annoy us! Well, at last I’d just say, don’t go there when we’re about to come back.
Have a good one! (as we learned that they use to say to you in this part of America)

So glad you enjoyed your stay. Come again.
Very nice stay. We have never stayed at a Home Away where the owner lives on the property but Tom and Deb made us feel like we had privacy. The cabin is very nice. We didn’t even get a chance to use the pool because of all the activities in the area. The house is stocked with everything we needed
A very nice cabin location easy to reach. Comfortable and peaceful. Easy to reach the national forest and hike into the woods. Hummingbirds, chipmunks, steller jays, plus huge boulders around the cabin. Pool on the property but not heated and it is Colorado. Would return and enjoy again as it was peaceful and very quite at night. Tom was around and was very helpful with any issues. Internet worked well except early in morning as it was slow then.
The cabin was very nice and it was fun hiking on the property. It was nice watching the hummingbirds in the morning and the chipmunks. The cabin was quiet at night and is well stocked for the stay. We are looking forward to coming back.
Had such an amazing time in the cabin in the woods. Enjoyed the whole time of being on the go and relaxing. Close enough to Colorado Springs to do things there and the Platte River to fish for trout. Really enjoyed ourselves! Loved the hikes in the Pikes National Forest. Just beautiful!
