Great home close to town and beach
We just returned from a wonderful trip to Chatham. Mark’s home was lovely and as advertised. A lovely little beach area about a 5 minute walk from home; easy trip to downtown. Chatham is a beautiful town and we love exploring it. Mark provides everything you could possibly want. Any questions or concerns and he is very responsive. We look forward to returning next year!
A beautifully restored home in perfect distance to walk to town easily. Mark was so helpful and went out of his way to make our stay perfect. The house is large and perfectly appointed. We lived it!!
Location! Location! Location!
We had an outstanding vacation staying on Main Street! We were able to enjoy so many things that Chatham has to offer and not be worried with parking or traffic! We had so much available to us in walking distance including a beach, downtown Chatham, grocery store, great restaurants, Cape Cod League baseball field, playground and Fish pier. The house was spacious and provided privacy for both the kids and adults. We are highly considering renting here next summer!
Mark was very responsive to questions and was a great resource for all that Chatham has to offer. Thank you for making our trip easy!!
Glad you enjoyed the house and had a great vacation! Our family loves being able to avoid most driving when we're down. Chatham is great in the summer, but the traffic and parking can take the chill out of summer fun. Thanks so much for renting our house and hope to see you next year!
Great location; plenty of space; amazing landlord!!!
I've been wanting to write this review since Mark spent an hour on the phone with me, telling this new Cape Cod visitor all about the town of Chatham, the area, what to do, and where to go. He was incredibly generous with information and has a whole binder full of information at the house. The place lived up to the hype, and me and my two kids had a great time there. I highly recommend it!
So delighted you had a good time on the Cape at our house in Chatham!
There's a lot to do on Cape Cod and ranges from the Cape Cod National Seashore to the fun of Provincetown at the tip. We think Chatham is a lovely spot in its own right as one of the prettiest towns on the Cape with great beaches, a lovely historic village and tons of good restaurants.
And always pleased to hear the house lived up to your expectations!
Exactly what we wanted....
4 1/2 stars rounded up. We were looking for a reasonable, clean, in town location for July 4th week that was pet friendly. This house fits the bill. Mark was amazing to deal with before, during and after and was beyond accommodating. Was our stay "perfect"....no but Mark responded quickly to remedy any minor issue.....as a owner of a rental home ourselves we understand both sides.
The house is on the Main Street....the noise didn't bother us. Parking wasn't any issue. Our teenage children could walk everywhere easily. The yard/portch is not huge but enough to dine outside and we enjoyed that. Good family friendly restaurants nearby or walk and do take out and dine in. Kitchen had most everything but note this is not meant to be a big cook in, party house. Definitely adequate but only two regular burners and a grill on the other side. There was ample supplies provided - trash bags, paper towels, dish detergent, etc. - we were there at the start of the season and these may dwindle but very nice touch. All bedrooms have window A/C. The kitchen can get hot however our week was unusually warm for Cape Cod.
I would caution perspective renters that have very young children or older family members that this is an older house with very steep and narrow stairs. There is a baby gate provided but knowing that in advance would be helpful. There is also a master bedroom on the main floor for these purposes and plenty of room there to put blowup bed, pack & play etc.
We would absolutely rent this house again and that speaks volumes to Mark and the house itself.
Thanks so much for such a wonderfully detailed review! (And also thanks for your patience as our start of the summer season this year got off to a slightly bumpy start with our service providers...)
So glad the house and location worked well for you! We've found over the years that being in-town is especially helpful for parents with independent kids, including our own now-14 year old. Not to mention that a lot of renters with or without kids like being able to ditch the car while down on vacation and avoiding the epic Chatham Village traffic during peak summer season.
Excellent points on the kitchen: although it's full sized and has an oven and eat in area for 4, we typically use it in summer at dinner time as a supplement to the grill and take-outs.
As for stairs, great point! When we know there are mobility challenged folks with aging knees or small children in tow, we do try to caution that the stairs are steeper than in a modern house. It's not the ships ladder stairs you get in 19th century houses in Chatham, but certainly an issue if you have toddlers or elderly guests with you.
Thanks again and hope we see in Chatham next summer!
walk to town & beaches
Very convenient location- walkable to shops, grocery, beaches and bakery. lots of space for eating and relaxing. We had breakfast on the back deck and family dinners at the large dining table. Main floor master bdrm with bath and 2 second floor twin bdrms with full bath up a typically steep cape staircase. Perfect for a week's vacation for grandparents and family of 4.
So glad you enjoyed your family get together at our house! Location is easy with little ones for either a short walk to Oyster Pond or an even shorter walk to Chatham's great playground and kid recreation complex (now in our rearview mirror with our 13 year old...).
And good reminder on the stairs: they are a bit steeper than in a modern house, so we try to let people who might have trouble with it know in advance. Master bedroom and bath on first floor usually solve that problem (like when my own mother visits...).
