You can enjoy all of this while overlooking picturesque Loon Lake from the comfort of Copper Falls Cottage. The 1800 square foot 3 bedroom 2 bathroom cottage which includes two row boats and 3 kayaks is located on the pristine Loon Lake sleeping eight guests comfortably in beds with the ability to accommodate up to 12. Step 40 feet out the back door onto your own private dock where you will enjoy 400 feet of quiet no wake lake frontage, great fishing, snorkeling, non-motorized water sports, loons and beautiful trumpeter swans who will pay you homage.

No matter the season Copper Falls Cottage provides an ideal setting nestled in the Northwoods only 30 minutes from Ashland, 45 minutes from Hayward 25 minutes from Whitecap Mountain Ski Resort you have endless opportunities for year round outdoor recreation including just a five minute driving distance to local ATV and snowmobile trails. Copper Falls Cottage is located inside the gates of Copper Falls State Park in Mellen, WI but is privately owned and managed. With your stay at the cottage you get to enjoy anything that you can walk to in the park for free. You are a 2 minute hike from the nearest trailhead offering year round adventure with groomed hiking, skiing, off road biking and snowshoe trails. The cabin is also only a three minute walk from the public beach where you have the option to rent additional canoes and kayaks.

*During times the cabin has a night minimum, but don't be afraid to reach out. There can be exceptions made depending on the other stays that are booked near your asking timeframe.

A great stay in a beautiful state park!

Everything was great with our stay. The house is beautiful and well appointed. The lake views and the peaceful setting was just what we needed! Copper Falls State Park is a gem and the hiking was incredible! The town of Mellen is a quaint little town with a nice bar and grill. The area in Ashland county lends itself to day trips to Bayfield and other small towns in Northern WI. Everything was excellent with our stay. The only small issues we had were very minor. The lake although beautiful and sandy bottomed was filled with leaches right near the dock so swimming was a one time thing. Some of the lights in the house weren’t functioning but it didn’t really affect our stay. The internet is very slow and intermittent but that’s also to be expected in that part of the state. Overall a great stay and we would definitely book again!

Copper Falls State Park

Perfect place for family to stay! Appropriate ammenities for a cabin style state park trip. The only thing that was a bit of a negative was low water pressure in the home but I am not sure that can be changed. Lots to do and stunning view from the screen porch. Would definitely come again!

Great for families or a couple.

Resides on Loon Lake with a private dock for fishing, kayak/row boat launch, or just relaxing along the water, watching dragonflies and hummingbirds circling, and listening to the beautiful sound of the loons. Peaceful, close to hiking and waterfalls. Host responds quickly and is very friendly. Would love to return.

Making Memories at Loon Lake

We loved staying at this beautiful and spacious cabin in such a scenic area! The setting gave us a real up north vibe! A couple of the sunnier mornings, we were able to enjoy a gorgeous sunrise across the lake. Loon Lake was small enough to easily kayak the perimeter many times over the 4 days we were there, enjoying several turtle sightings, as well as watching the loons and swans. We enjoyed hiking every day and visiting the amazing waterfalls in the park and nearby. We visited Madeline Island one of the days and soaked in the awesome views of Lake Superior. Our family is taking home some sweet memories. Thank you for keeping up such a great place!

Family gathering

Very nice place to gather all the kids and spend time at the beach, hiking and a trip into Ashland to see the sites there. From relaxing in the hammock to fishing, from hiking to games on the screened in porch, we loved being together and the great space.

Just got back from a wonderful couple of days a copper falls cottage. The pictures are accurate, the location is outstanding, the owners are excellent. We just wish we could have stayed longer. But the time we did have was wonderful. Thanks.

Stay at Copper Falls Cottage

The location is terrific. We enjoyed being on the water, hiking the park trails, and visiting area towns. The cabin worked well for our family of 8 adults and two younger kids. Access to kayaks and fishing was great. There were some maintenance issues.

Great family getaway!

We loved everything about our stay. The location was remote, but easily accessible. We enjoyed hiking the trails to see the falls in the park, kayaking, building sandcastles at the beach, and just being able to relax together.

Great Winter Getaway for the Fam

We did a LOT of ice fishing (from that great ice house that sleeps 12). While setting the auger on the fourth hole, the first flag was up already. Caught our limit of northerns in no time. Too warm to ski so we hiked to Red Granite Falls and back from the cottage, a hike which even the youngsters could handle easily. Definitely coming back next year.

Family friendly fun, water falls, and disc golf

Gorgeous spot. Loved kayaking, and seeing and hearing a pair of eagles several times during our stay. House was great for family of 4 and grandparents with room for more. Lucky to have caught a candlelight hike and some fall fun. Did several rounds of disc golf about 15 minutes away at Highbridge.

Cottage vacation

This is a very relaxing and peaceful place. The hikes were nice short hikes to do with kids. We loved watching the turtles and loon swimming around. Everything you need is very close to the house. Aaron was very nice and responded to any questions we had.

Hiking amidst waterfalls

We hiked all the waterfalls in the park and also traveled a short ways to Morgan Falls and Potato Falls. All stunning. Frog peepers sang to us and the loons serenaded us in morning and night. The cottage was exceptional with views, sentinel pines, and emerging wildflowers. We felt we were in the boundary waters. Also, when we had a Wi-Fi question, the owner responded quickly! Truly a fine woman. Thanks for sharing this.

Fantastic place for long or short stay

Beautiful cabin with a fantastic location. Extra bonus points for the kayaks and what not provided. Space for guests is ample and everything worked. A little bit of maintenance would go a long way with simple things like making the table and chairs less wobbly or adjusting doors so they don't have to be slammed to shut, ect.

Great for two families

We would love to come back in the summer! We were there to ski with two families of older teenagers/adults. The two sides of the house let us each have our own space. The lake setting is beautiful! We had a great time and would definitely come back. Thank you!

Weekend hiking getaway

Copper Falls Cottage was the perfect retreat for our short weekend getaway! The proximity to hiking and other outdoor activities was very appealing and made for a perfect base camp!

We are two families with younger children that enjoy quality family time while enjoying all the wonders that nature has to offer. We are excited to provide these opportunities for other families to do the same.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

The location of this property spoke to us. Copper Falls State Park has always been one of our favorite places to visit in WI so when this cottage became available, we knew we needed to make this opportunity available for others to enjoy. The recreation and scenery the park and near by areas have to offer as well as the quiet surreal setting on Loon Lake will have you begging to come back time and time again.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

- Hiking, biking, cross country and downhill skiing, fishing, kayaking, snowshoeing, hunting, snowmobiling and ample wildlife watching all at your fingertips.

- Only a 5 minute drive to local snowmobile trails, 20 minute drive to Whitecap Mountain Ski resort, a 30 minute drive to Lake Superior in Ashland, 45 minutes to Hayward and 1 hour to Bayfield with a short ferry ride across to Madeline Island.

- The fall leaves over the picturesque waterfalls are something only seen in magazines.
