Your floating home to explore anchorages in St John and the nearby waters of St Thomas. Choose a different spot to explore each day, swim and snorkel off the back off the boat, try the local restaurants, listen to live music on the beach... it's all here. Rent a kayak or a paddle board and go exploring local bays and snorkeling spots. Then relax with a cold drink under a beach umbrella for the afternoon. The vessel is a 1996 Beneteau Farr 50, fast off the wind and not bad upwind either. Sailing the USVI is trickier than it looks. There are strong currents, narrow channels, numerous outcroppings of rocks with names like Blunder Rocks and the like and fluky, gusty winds that bounce off the hills. It's up to you how much sailng you want to do, but for the most part we will motor sail between destinations unless otherwise requested. Enjoy!
Alex was an amazing host! He provided us with several options of new adventures each day. Sailing through the Virgin Islands on the Amazing Grace II was a beautiful and unique way to experience what the islands have to offer. Alex provided a delicious breakfast and was very accommodating and knowledgeable. This stay was unforgettable. We would recommend staying on the Amazing Grace II 10 out of 10.
We had a fantastic time on the sailboat! Alex is attentive yet knows when you want to be left alone. You can tell he's been doing this for years because he has everything down to a science. He gave great recommendations for snorkeling and dinner. He cooks breakfast and lunch so enjoy your boat time! Highly recommend.
We just returned from St. Thomas and St. John in the US virgin islands. Our stay aboard the amazing grace II was outstanding. Alex was a very responsive host. He readily answered all of my questions and concerns. He was also a very gracious host while we were on board. If you have never tried sailing this way, now is the time! You wonât be disappointed.
My friend and I just returned from 4 nights aboard Amazing Grace II with Captain Alex. We are two friends around the age of 50 who had some prior experience boating in the BVIs with our families and visiting St John/staying on the island. Alex was a great host - clearly knowledgeable about the islands and safely sailing around the area. He was friendly and shared his experiences and knowledge with us - offering his own suggestions but also allowing us to choose our own adventures. Each morning he prepared coffee and offered a light breakfast. He also prepared a light lunch for us 2/3 days. This was a wonderful experience all around that I would HIGHLY recommend. Pack light and prepare for a wonderful adventure!
Our 4 nite stay was a trip of a lifetime!
We sailed from St Thomas around the entire island of St. John with Alex , our captain and host!
my 17yr old daughter and I had such an amazing sailing experience.
We moored/ anchored at many beautiful beaches in St. John and St Thomas. We had pizza and tacos/ margs on the floating house boats . Snorkeled right off the boat each day ! Alex was a great host and showed my daughter some mooring skills! The breakfasts and coffee on his beautiful boat each morning was just delicious with the most amazing views .
It was truly a vacation experience that was the most memorable one.
You have to do this!
We have a new friend in St John !
Alex , anytime you sail past Fenwick Island De come visit for a French pressed coffee! (Ty - itâs a staple now!)
If you have ever wanted to get away on sailboat and sail paradise for a week or two, this is the way to go. I have sailed in the past and one thing I did not like was all the work of the actual sailing and managing the boat and then figuring out what to eat and get to shore and all that other stuff.
What was amazing about this adventure was the only thing we needed to do was show-up. Alex is an amazing host and a shocking good cook. We had some dietary requirements (vegan and a dairy allergy) and don't like to be PITA, but Alex was able to make wonderful meals that truly were "I would order that again" types of meals, and also he has mad skills in the coffee department. Coffee was on every morning around 7:45. French Press and eye opening - the way it's supposed to be!
Anyone looking to experience the Carribean from the water should spend a week or two aboard Amazing Grace 2 with Alex. You will be well fed, relaxed, and come back with once in a life time memories.
My husband and I stayed on the Saving Grace for three nights of our 13-day vacation in March. We had such a good time! We loved experiencing the islands from the perspective of the water. Alex, our host, is kind, thoughtful, and interesting and the Saving Grace is so much fun. My husband and I highly recommend this experience!!
This was the perfect way to experience the US Virgin islands for a week. Alex was a wonderful host and captain and we enjoyed the time we had with him.
We're already looking forward to coming back again and couldn't recommend this trip more!
We had a wonderful time on our trip with Captain Alex. He's an experienced sailor that knows the islands like the back of his hand. He was a mellow and pleasant host. The shipboard sleeping accomodations were private, spacious, and comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas he prepared. He found peaceful bays the moor the boat overnight so we had calm waters in the evening. He took excellent care of us. Enjoyed some great snorkeling. Hope to sail with him again sometime.
Captain Alex was a pleasure; he took us around St John to great snorkeling spots. If you want the experience of sailing and staying on a boat, I would highly recommend booking Estate Caneel Bay! It was wonderful to sit on the deck under the stars at night and swim in crystal clear waters during the day!
Host Alex was a pleasure to book with. Very prompt in all of our correspondences. Answered all of my questions promptly and always gave me options. We are looking for experiences and his accommodations are very comfortable, fabulous and unique. Our bedroom was the large berth consisting of a queen bed, a lovely white leather sofa, ample floor space for 2, a separate head/sink and a separate shower/sink. The room is also a floating library! He provides a lovely breakfast and light lunch. Alex accommodated us by shuttling us ashore for dinner on his dinghy and back to the boat. It really was a pleasant experience. His knowledge of sailing and boats is very broad and very impressive. I'm so pleased to have met him. Thank you Alex for your hospitality!
Getting away on the Amazing Grace II with Alex is truly heaven on earth! My wife Diane and I and one of our grown daughters (Julia) spent four nights with Alex on the Amazing Grace II over the Christmas holiday. Morning coffee and breakfast in spectacular settings. Then setting sail for new adventures in different coves and bays. Snorkeling and hikes on shore. Then dining adventures that always started with a quick trip on the dinghy! dinghy! Alex was patient, kind, and fun to be with. Our days ended with a little bit of wine, stargazing, and sharing our musical tastes on a sailboat in the Caribbean over Christmas. Trip was way beyond our wildest dreams. Thanks again Alex, we have a new friendâŠ
Starting on Alexâs boat our first 2 nights in St. John was the perfect way to start our vacation and truly relax! Alex was a wonderful host, made the BEST scrambled eggs, and was great to hang out with and give us ideas of places to see, etc. being able to go around to moor in different places and visit different bays and beaches was simply amazing. Next time we will probably do more days on a boat! If youâre thinking about trying it, you will love it and We highly recommend Alex!
We spent 3 nights on the Amazing Grace II with Alex which was just about right for taking in the beauty of St John. Honestly, a couple more nights would have been great too. He is very knowledgeable about the best sites for snorkeling and hiking as well as some of the best restaurants around the island. This is not a cruise ship experience, it is a more authentic way of experiencing the Caribbean. You can set the schedule to be as busy or sedate as you want it and Alex takes care of the rest. We definitely will be coming back.
It was a wonderful and most pleasant surprise to sail with Alex. He was instructive, considerate, caring and very knowledgeable of all things pertaining to sailing. My wife and I and my brother and his wife richly enjoyed our 3 day trip and highly recommend Alex and Amazing Grace II
Captain Alex is one of a kind and his boat is too. The whole experience is so immersive that by the first morning we felt like we were away from home for days...exactly what we wanted. Coffee and breakfast in the cockpit, with 360 degree views of the blue Caribbean water, beaches, islands and other boats was dream-list checkbox time. We bought food and ate on the boat three of the four nights because we could really relax, have drinks, watch the sunset...you could not have found a restaurant with a better setting anyway. The last night, in Christmas Cove, was really classic because we were able to dinghy over to the most unique pizza place we had ever seen...a boat serving fresh baked pizza out a hatch in the back. Alex said it was the most expensive pizza on earth. but at $33 for delicious 16" pizza it seemed a bargain. Alex really is very accommodating, whether you want to relax or go adventuring. Great experience all around and an unforgettable way to experience St John...our only complaint is that we might never be able to rent a house again! God willing, we will return with some of our other single children next year. Thank you Alex! Frank and Angelique
Amazing Grace II was a lovely, comfortable vessel for sailing around St John and St Thomas. Thanks to Captain Alex, we got to explore many beautiful bays and some fun spots to eat. A fun and relaxing weekend all around. Highly recommend.
My friends and I had the BEST TIME on Amazing Grace II, and with the host, Alex. Alex sailed us around to many amazing spots, made us breakfast, and was great company. The boat was clean and had very nice amenities. We had a safe, fun, and exciting trip. We can't wait to return and sail with Alex again!
From the initial contact, Alex was responsive and agreeable. Our 5 days on the Amazing Grace were relaxing and carefree. Alex was very accommodating and flexible with our daily plans, hopping from bay to beach to island. Highly recommend.
