The Henhouse is a two story unit, with a very large bedroom upstairs, en-suite with a balcony looking around the surrounding countryside and forest. Downstairs there is a twin room, also en-suite. There is a large living room/dining room area and a separate fully-fitted kitchen. It includes linen and towels, satellite and internet TV, WiFi and parking for two private cars. Gas and electricity are a metered extra, but this is usually a token extra.
Relaxing and presented a great taste of Irelandâs countryside. The woods on the farm gave us opportunity for a delightful walk and informative signage was helpful in identifying trees, etc. we appreciated Ciaran giving prompt attention to setting up internet/TV set -up and also his personal sharing of history of the area. Eva was delightful and both made our trip to Ireland especially enjoyable.
Our stay at the Henhouse was great. We enjoyed meeting Eva and getting to know a bit of the history of the area. The area was quiet and our kids loved seeing the sheep and playing with the two farm dogs. The trip into Dublin was quick and easy and being close the airport was nice as well. We appreciated the flexibility of an early check in off our transatlantic flight. If we're ever in the area again, we'll look at this as an option for our stay.
The hosts at the henhouse REALLY care about their guest. They go beyond to be sure visitors to Ireland are cared for at the very lovely henhouse. We are so grateful to Ciaran and Eva.
Super friendly Host that was extremely accommodating for our adult family of 5. Having a basket of croissants, biscuits, and jam with OJ/milk in the refrigerator waiting for us was such a thoughtful touch for our arrival. The walk around the property was lovely. Highly recommend.
We only stayed a few nights while in Ireland. It had everything we needed and the caretaker was super nice and helpful! It was fun waking up to the sheep.
We received a warm welcome from Eva and discovered a lovely basket of goodies and a well stocked kitchen on our arrival at the Hen House. Beds were comfy, water was hot and sitting area outside was nice after a long day sightseeing. Easy bus ride to Dublin and Howth made for a nice day trip and the Glasnevin Cemetery has an interesting tour that provides plenty of history. Both Eva and Ciaran (hosts) were readily available and happy to offer suggestions and provide info to ensure an interesting and pleasant stay. Thanks so much, The Martinâs & Mountjoys
Adorable welcome cat, neat rural location in Ashbourne, close to Dublin Airport and Dublin with a car, great communication from host, all necessities provided, apartment and furnishings were a bit weary and could use some refreshing.
The location is beautiful and quiet which was perfect for our trip. Itâs an easy drive to Dublin and the airport. Eva was so kind and hospitable; my daughter and I really enjoyed meeting her. Would definitely stay here again.
We had a great time here. Nice property and grounds to walk around. They have 2 sheep on the property (gated away) that we passed by on our walk through the woods (watch out for pesky nettle in Ireland)! Great hospitality from Eva (the caretaker) and the bread and jam basket was lovely. Clean and heat worked well. Plenty of parking if need be. Full kitchen stocked with everything we needed, even a French press! Ciaran had great communication and responded quickly to any questions we had before and during our stay. They were able to add another twin bed in the room with 2 beds for us, which was great for our family of 5. Small note - not the greatest shower pressure, but that didnât bother us. We checked in at 2am due to a late night flight, and Ciaran was accommodating. Also, a bonus - the cutest and friendliest farm cat named Kitty may greet you outside as you arrive!
Eva and Ciaran were wonderful hosts! Before our arrival we received a helpful local guide and on arrival we were greeted personally and given a tour of the apartment and directions for the farm trail. A minor kitchen pan problem was dealt with immediately and Eva searched the dryer for my son's missing Airpod! The apartment was clean and austere. There are multiple apartments in the building and we did not get one that had the listed king bed; the second bedroom had a queen and there was no Murphy bed, just a mattress under one of the twins. The living room furniture made it a bit difficult for four adults to sit comfortably and watch a match. The tranquility and proximity to the city are a huge plus!
Spent 3 nights on the back end of our Ireland trip and had a great stay. Kids loved eating breakfast with sheep in the field all around! Lovely small farm with all the amenities a family would need and very close to town with great shops. Fantastic hosts and gift basket of breakfast items was a nice surprise!
Our host, Eva, was incredibly responsive to every inquiry. She also had excellent recommendations on local sights for our party. The kitchen came stocked with a few niceties such as bread, croissants, butter, jam, milk and juice. Beds were quite comfortable and we enjoyed resting while watching the sheep and listening to the birds. Perfect place to stay for our first two nights in Ireland!
The pictures were exactly what we experienced. First time using VRBO. Farm property was amazing and the attention to detail provided by the care takers was "spot on". From welcoming basket with fresh bread, jams, coffee and tea to providing amenities similar to being at home. Will be back in the future.
After traveling for a whole day, we were met with fresh bread, jams, milk, orange juice, tea and coffee. It was a great and thoughtful surprise for us. The Hen house had plenty of room for the 5 of us. The on site washer and dryer was a godsend for us because we were In Liverpool the week before and werenât able to do any laundry. It is in a great location for us to day travel. It was a trip of a lifetime for us! We hope to be back within the next 10 years!
Great place to stay at the start of our trip! Our host was wonderful and so responsive, greeting us with fresh bread, jam, butter, coffee and juice. Our kiddos loved meeting the friendly farm cat on the property and walking the trails to meet the sheep (even trying to herd them themselves:)) close to Dublin and airport! Thanks again!
The property was nice for our family of 5. Everything was clean and Ciaran met us when we pulled in to show us around. He also has one of the most comprehensive guides on amenities, restaraunts, things to do in the area. I wish we had more time to explore more of them.
I am a teacher, working in adult education and accessible education. I live on a cattle and sheep farm, with my children and two badly-behaved collies. We have a team of people to ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
