We really loved the cottage, it has been very sensitively restored and has so much character, surrounded by olive groves high up the mountainside and with a large hugely old olive right in the garden. Sandra made us so welcome and the pool was clean and sparkly and felt very private. I rented a rather average car, which was a bit heavy and underpowered (VW T-cross), and if I come again which I would very much like to then I will choose a smaller car with a bigger engine as there are some steep hills around.
We spent a week at the villa, it was gorgeously decorated, modern but at the same time rustic and fashionable. Everything you could need was provided; whether it was pool towels, a stock of drinks/eggs/oranges in the fridge, washing up supplies, mosquito coils, insect screens on all the windows (a first ever that was greatly appreciated) and more.
The pool was well maintained and a good size for the family to splash around in. The provided BBQ was excellent for an evening grill around the pool.
As this is a rural location, with a bit of a drive from the town and beach, there are a lot of insects, hence the screens on the windows. If you're coming be well armed with insect repellent and make use of the coils provided.
The only thing that could have made our stay a bit more comfortable would be air conditioning. The fans worked well at night for sleeping, with the windows open, but our week was quite hot and not a lot of wind on the mountain side. If you're not used to that type of heat it could be challenging to cool down. Having said this, we booked knowing there was no air conditioning and would rebook again because everything else was so wonderful.
Thank you to Sandra for her hospitality during the stay.
We have just enjoyed a wonderful weekâs stay in this beautifully and sympathetically restored stone house. So much attention to detail both inside and out. The setting up in the hills above Tyros is idyllic and the garden surrounding the house is stunning, full of flowers, hidden areas and two ancient olive trees. The scent of the lavender planted outside the main bedroom and the sound of the bees drifts in through the windows. We loved the first floor terrace with its shaded table and the deckchairs where we could sit and enjoy the view and the stars at night. The pool is lovely and a good size and depth for swimming. We really appreciated the local eggs, olive oil and oranges which gave us fresh juice every morning. Joanna was so helpful and kind, always very prompt to respond to any query we had.
We really liked Tyros and this part of the Peloponnese. It feels very unspoilt. The coastline is beautiful with many lovely pebble beaches to explore, all very quiet when we were there. We particularly liked Tigani which is close by. We also enjoyed driving up the coast to Astros and south to Poulithra. A visit to the monastery Panagia Elonis is a must and the drive there through the mountains is breathtaking.
Thank you so much Joanna. You have created a very special and unique house. We really fell in love with it and hope to return.
We were able to enjoy our vacation to the fullest. It is a beautifully restored house up in the hills above Tyros. We lacked for nothing. Incredibly friendly communication with the owners. We highly recommend this accommodation.
Ein wunderschönes und behutsam renoviertes, geschmackvoll eingerichtetes Ferienhaus mit Charakter in traumhafter, ruhiger Lage. Berg- und Meerblick, liebevoll gestalteter Garten, gepflegter Pool. Und last but not least Ioanna ist eine sehr zuvorkommende aufmerksame Gastgeberin (Kommunikation, Tipps, kleine Aufmerksamkeiten). Immer gerne wieder.
Excellent property, set in the hills above Tyros. Perfect for peace and quiet in the superbly renovated farmhouse with private pool yet only 10 minutes drive from the beaches, harbour and shops. Joanna is a very helpful host.
Wonderful house, private and quiet, offering a relaxing holiday with a cooling pool and a nearby seaside. You need rather a little strong small car than a big SUV to climb up the narrow streets, but that's all you need. Everything else is there, together with greece hospitality.
My family fell in love with the house..
and some cats...:-)
Thank you!
Traumhaftes Ferienhaus in absolut ruhiger Lage mit tollem Blick auf beeindruckendes Bergmassiv und Meer. Grandioser Pool und wunderschön saniertes altes ursprĂŒngliches Bauernhaus.
The house is very charming; in quiet neighbourhood; well equipped; with a nice pool. The location is fabulous: beautiful view of the surroundings; away from the crowd, but close enough (by car!) to Tyros and itâs restaurants and the neighbouring beach at Tigani to enjoy the sea. For teenage girls there is not much to do in Tyros, but that is exactly the reason why we came here ;) Host Sandra and her husband Dominique are very kind (both anglo- and francophone) and the welcome was warm, with fresh oranges and figs. Excellent week!
We had a wonderful week in this lovely and carefully restored house. Unlike most holiday houses in Greece this house has a lot of character and a beautiful interior. The nice furniture, the stylish kitchen and bathroom. And off course the mountain and seaviews, the garden with old olive-tree and lovely pool. Everything spotless clean. The last part of the route is rather a challenge but it is definitely worth the effort. And last but not least a very friendly host who was always available if we had a question. We would definitely like to come back to this hidden gem. Family De Poorter
Our family had a great week in beautiful surroundings. Ioanna was a great host who made us all feel very welcome and Eleni the caretaker makes a great cake!
