First of all, I don't think this property is even listed anymore. When we arrived the house was 83 degrees inside and the only AC was a portable unit upstairs. The bed in that room was an air mattress. The room that had the only decent bed was too hot to sleep in. The lighting was terrible all over the house. It was dark and dingy on the inside, especially the kitchen. There was hardly any lighting in the kitchen. Only one of the three light fixtures worked. Most of the house is in disrepair. My partner sat in one of the chairs out on the patio, and it split and she fell to the ground. On the plus side, we were allowed to bring our little dog, there was decent wifi, and if you watch a lot of TV, you'd be in luck here, as this house has four of them. One is even on the porch! My advice would be, sell a TV, invest in a window unit AC, fix the lighting situation and discard aging outdoor furniture. Seriously, this could be such a cute place, but please invest in some updates.
This property was impeccably clean. Decorated with a boutique/cabin feel. The house is 120 or so years old with all the charm. Perfect for mom daughter weekend. We rented kayaks from Scoops a block away and kayaked a very serene lake Lilly. We were the only ones in this beautiful little lake filled with lilly pads and turtles! We also rented bikes from scoops our last day and biked several miles of the bike trail that runs right through town. Paved and mostly shady on the stretch we did. There was a sandy beach a couple blocks away with shaded tables so we had a picnic there one day. We drove to Minneopa State Park near Mankato and drove through the bison range. Felt almost like A mini Yellowstone. The bison were walking on the road right next to our car. Very cool experience! If this is still available as a VRBO next year Iâll be back for our annual mom/sisters girlâs weekend. There are a few bars/restaurants within walking distance which is perfect for that once the pandemic ends. (They are open now to the braver folks!)
House owner was so easy to work with!! Remember to bring your own salt/pepper for cooking and cream/sugar for coffee if needed, but if you forget there are stores close by and a bigger grocery store in the next town over. We love cooking so we did a lot of that during our stay and there were all the pots, pans, dishes and utensils needed.
Owner is super nice to work with! Had fun being by the lake, and being able to walk to the bars to eat and drink. Comfortable beds and equipped kitchen. Fun weekend enjoying the feels of a small town!
This is a great little spot to get away and spend some quality time in a small town. Right next to bars and a 10 minute walk to the Knotty Bar and Grill (which has some fantastic food and great patio!) Right next to many lakes which we kayaked and fished on. Chris was a great host and we loved the cottage. Would stay again!
