The camp and surrounding area were absolutely beautiful and far exceeded our expectations. The camp was clean, spacious, and had all the charm we were looking for on a quiet weekend outside of the city!
This was one of our favorite cabins to stay at. The location was excellent! You are nestled up on a hill overlooking the water and the scenery is just spectacular. The only noise we heard were the birds and the loons at night, so relaxing. The cabin is very clean and has a full kitchen and bath that are run by propane. This was great being able to cook dinners, make coffee and breakfast and to shower after a long hike or bike ride. We have T-Mobile cell service and had no issues getting service. Sitting on the dock or the cabin deck and just absorbing the beauty and peacefulness is such bliss. There is so much to do in the surrounding areas: Stowe has shopping and restaurants as well as morrisville (we stopped to the Rock Art Brewery to try their beer..Excellent!). We went hiking at Elmore State Park and did the almost 6 mile hike up the mountain to the fire tower. I highly recommend this if you can handle a tough hike, the views from the fire tower were stunning. We also rented bikes in Johnson at Lamoille Valley Bike Tour and did a mile bike ride through the countryside. We rented the cabin for a week and I can honestly say I could have stayed another week. It rained the 1st day we got there, and that was no problem for us..we cooked a nice meal and sat and listened to the rain..so peaceful. If your looking to get away from the concrete jungle or to just unwind and become one with nature, then this is the place to stay at.
A great opportunity to get away from it all. Float in the canoe and watch turtles sunning themselves on logs, watch loons, otters, beavers, swim in cool clean water and just enjoy looking at the pond. Artists, writers and those who appreciate nature this is a special place.
It was a truly beautiful break from the digital rat race. Having a chance to watch 2 otters playing was truly surreal. Even despite a very cold rain storm the woodstove kept the cabin quite cozy. We could've easily stayed much longer and been quite happy.
This was a rustic, quaint, no-frills, and absolutely perfect spot to get away. The view was spectacular, the stars were bright, the fish were biting, the porcupines were friendly, and the silence was palpable. Ed was super responsive and very pleasant to work with. We appreciated the cabin, the dock, and all of the stunning natural beauty of Northern Vermont.
Very much enjoyed this off the grid cabin. The interior was simple, warm and inviting. The views from every window were great. The deck overlooking the pond was a lovely space.I would love to go again this fall !
A rustic cabin in the most serene and peaceful setting. If you want to relax and unwind this is a great spot. We fished, swam, canoed and enjoyed the wildlife. It was just what we wanted.
A very special place to unplug and immerse oneself in nature. Very comfortable cabin. The pond is exquisite. Ed is easy to communicate with. The location in Vermont is perfect for day excursions. A beautiful find.
Another fantastic stay at Gut Pond. Love this little getaway! Everything anyone needs for a relaxing vacation including the deck and screened in porch overlooking the water. We had perfect weather so spent a lot of time in the water just floating around. Highly recommend if you are looking to unplug.
If you are looking for a lovely serene place to hang out in nature, swim, and get away from it all, this is it. The cabin has everything one needs for a simple relaxing vacation with tons of light/windows, books, games, candles, folding chairs, all the kitchen necessities and a very comfy couch and beds. Ed is just terrific to work with as well. Highly recommended!
A beautiful location nearby tons of outdoor activities. We loved our relaxing time here by Gut pond. We fished, hiked and visited beautiful Newport and sampled the excellent and varied library of books in the cabin. Ed was quick to responded to any questions we had .
We hope to return soon.!
Great location overlooking pond. Quiet, peaceful, wildlife everywhere, close to hiking, fishing, swimming, plenty to do if you love the outdoors. Communication with owner was great. Answered all my questions and helped with my special requests. However the cabin needs a lot of attention. A serious renovation and upgrades are in order. Pathway to pond is a accident waiting to happen. This off the grid cabin has the potential with a little TLC and is a gold mine waiting to happen.
Camp on a small pond, but large enough pond for a loon to take off:) Full beaver family, very clean water, plenty of perch off the dock, cool water for swimming. Cabin has what's necessary and is comfortable. The fireflies and stars are amazing at night. Because we're in nature, be prepared for deer flies/nature. Almost all the people who write in the visitor book over decades write about coming back and enjoying the time together.
We fell in love with this cabin. It was all we hoped for and more. The pond water was so clean and a perfect temperature for swimming. The dock was very secluded and peaceful. We enjoyed canoeing around the pond spotting turtles, loons, and beavers. The screened in porch was perfect for afternoon naps in the rain, playing games, reading, or just enjoying our surroundings. The hike down to the dock was a little challenging, don't attempt in flip flops. But all in all this is a perfect get away from it all kind of a place. We will definitely be back!
Beautiful spot for a real getaway. I had some reservations about staying at an off-grid cabin. But they proved to be unfounded. The cabin was overall clean, and all the gas appliances worked just fine. The gravity-supplied water is pretty amazing allowing for standard indoor plumbing. It is a very quiet place with lots of wildlife. You can watch the beavers swimming around the pond at dusk, and hear the frogs croaking. You can spend all day curled up with a book or head out to Stowe for all types of outdoor activities. The cabin is rustic, but if you are looking to disconnect, this is a slice of natural paradise.
My family and I built this cabin in 1989 to have a place to spend time together in all seasons. It has been a wonderful place to have Thanksgiving, 4th of July celebrations, foliage and other times.
