This cottage has everything you would need in a lovely location next to the loch. St Margaret's Hope is a beautiful little village with an excellent pub/seafood restaurant and a well-stocked shop. This is a great place to explore Orkney from.
We had a very comfortable stay at St Margarets Hope. The little house has everything you need. The location on the slipway is just beautiful but it was a little chilly to take full advantage of it. We enjoyed going back and forth over the Churchill Barriers
We loved staying at 2 The Noust - a lovely little house in a fabulous location. The pub, PO/shop and bus stop are only a 2 minute walk away and the ferry terminal is only a 2 minute drive away. All this with peace and quiet too.
Comfortable cottage with everything you need while visiting Orkney. Stunning view from front door. Shops, bar and restaurant within walking distance. And donât miss the fish and chip van when it visits on a Saturday.
Host found EarPods left behind and kindly returned to us by post.
We had a great experience at the home and wish it could have been longer. Our arrival was delayed by a cancelled ferry trip and the host was immediately responsive to our questions about a late arrival and made it super-easy for us. The house is exactly what you need as a peaceful base for exploring Orkney, was very clean, and met all our expectations. We highly recommend using it for your own travels!
The property was perfectly located and had pretty much everything we needed for Christmas and anew Year. It was warm, even in subzero temperatures. The bed was comfy and we even managed a bottle of bubbles out on the slip one evening.
We stayed at the Waterside Cottage in St Margaretâs Hope during our too short visit to beautiful Orkney. The cottage is situated in the charming town of St Margaretâs Hope, a drive away from the bigger enclave of Kirkwall. It met all of our needs and the views of the water from outside were gorgeous. We had ferocious weather during our stay and still we were in awe of the sunrises and sunsets, were visited by harbor seals, and witnessed more rainbows then we could count! We look forward to visiting again sometime.
A wonderful property in a magnificent location. Owner could not have been more friendly or more helpful. She truly went the 'extra mile on several occasions for us to make it an unforgettable holiday, and 10th. Anniversary experience. Thank you Tracey.
We were welcomed at the doorstep by our host. Located by the Harbour, we watched the fisherman bring his catch in, which probably appeared on our plates at the Murray Arms later on. The cottage had everything needed for a two night stay to explore the Orkneys and was close to the ferry. St Margaretâs Hope has an interesting craft shop.
Traceyâs property was perfect for the my wife and I. Fully equipped right down to washing liquid for the pots. The waterside location is in one of the most attractive villages in Orkney. Overall we couldnât fault it
Lovely and cosy, well equipped for all your needs, bed very comfortable and had a lovely peaceful sleep.
Situated in a very friendly village, a stone throw from the ferry which lights up the bay in the evening.
Would recommend this property to others with no hesitation.
A great location. The cottage was great for two but would have been crowded for more than that. A bit short on plates, cutlery and cooking equipment and a house book with instructions for TV, heaters etc. would have been very useful. We have though recommended it to a number of other people and we had a great time.
The very best thing about this property is its location in St Margaret's Hope, less than five minutes from where where the Gills Bay ferry comes in (also close to the bus stop!) and with sea views from the front door. This is an attractive, clean and well equipped cottage. It's in a quiet location beside the sea, but well placed to explore the many attractions of Orkney (in "normal times".)
There are shops, cafes and pubs within (short) walking distance (& Kirkwall is 25 minutes drive away - or a slightly longer bus ride.)
It was a brilliant base for the two of us for a fortnight, although we do think the cottage might be just a bit too "cosy" for more than two people.
We enjoyed our stay. It was comfortable. The bathroom was well lit and really liked the side shelves for storage. The shower was really nice. The stair treads up to the bedroom are a little narrow -- with my bad hip I had to be particularly careful about my foot placement. But that comment goes for all of Orkneky! :-)
There was room for all of our stuff. Would have liked a few more kitchen devices (e.g. good bread knife). But I understand we cook more than most people. I wasn't used to the electric stove but it worked well and I got used to it by the time we left.
What a great property! It's location is fantastic, right on the bay, and nestled into beautiful St. Margaret's Hope. It's also two minutes from the ferry, making it an ideal choice if you booked the early morning passage. It has everything you need: a comfortable bed, a nice shower, and a full kitchen. We really enjoyed our stay.
