Peace along the beach
My husband and I needed a trip to the beach after being quarantined due to the pandemic at home since early March with our children. We had high hopes of celebrating our fifteenth wedding anniversary on the beach and feared everything would still be closed on our anniversary. I wanted to go to the beach but had so many fears of being around people and crowds. The Green Gecko is the PERFECT secluded place if you want a little bit of peace and you have some reservations about being right next to others in condos along 30A. If the beach looked a bit crowded for us, we simply went back to our little private pool or hot tub and waited until things cleared out a bit. It really was the perfect place for us during such a strange time.
Great location and the privacy is fantastic!
I'd definitely recommend this property if looking for a private escape but still in the best location.

Secluded and private but near beach as well as nearby great restaurants -- Flemings and Stinkys were favorites. One BR but feels larger with high ceilings and well equipped kitchen and outdoor space. Interesting hikes in the neighboring state park. I'll be back.

FILTHY & owner will not honor her word to refund
We have stayed at about 10 homes in SRB over the last sev yrs. They have always been immaculate. We were so disappointed upon even just walking up to this addy. What we hv hd to deal with is unconscionable. I have pics of proof of everything (nejearatgmail) email me. There was a blk hairs &old food on stove and edge of sink, encrusted food in the teflon pans that were unbelievably scratched. No 1 in their right mind would use them sans crusty food &the melted plastic utensils staring at u when u walked in with a layer of dust was just 4 starters. This was not a great impression after walking up 2 a deck with a hole in the weave of the table & a gauge taken out of the railing due to the door hitting it, I took pics knowing how we would be responsible for these things if we didnt report them as the owner stressed EMPHATICALLY. The 2 toilets were gross and there were bugs in the upstairs toilet, 1 bathroom sink stopped up, and 2 black short hairs on the bedding next 2 our pillow b4 turning in. I have blond hair, my husband is bald. Dealng with aged owner was interruptive and she wanted to send the same people that allegedly "cleaned" it prior. I provided her with pictures immediately as we arrived early eve. Not only did we not want the same people 2 clean it but we were going to be out for most of the evening and didnt want our belongings subject to unattended people so we opted to clean it ourslvs & went 2 getsupplies. This was my husbands 50th birthday and flew all the way from Cal 2 hv 2 deal with this. As a result, I have asked graciously for 1 night stay back out of 3, a 1/3 of the taxes & 1/3 of the xtra fee & didn't even asking for the exorbitant cleaning fee back even tho we CLEANED THE PLACE TWICE for aged owner! I hv hd 2 beg for this all along the way thru private VRBO text to her and through the VRBO complaint dept still she will not refund the remaining 1/3's I spoke of. VRBO said she reneged & hung up on them after spouting mean things about me. We are disheartened and the icing on the cake is she wrote me and in her "shocked" state that we asked for a night + fees back voiced grave concern about me giving a bad review and in jeopardy of losing her current rating! This is clearly a heart issue with this owner. It is our experience she doesn't care about the customer but her ratings. Bc we have voiced this, hopefully she will hire someone who truly cleans and replace and fix all that was mentioned, for YOU, if you rent this place.
Oh My ! Every once in a Blue Moon, as an owner, you get one of these guests. I have been renting my little Green Gecko for years, and have never had anyone be as strange and volatile as this guest. When any of my guests call me with an issue, I work my hardest to take care of it immediately, and that is what I tried to do with this guest. According to her, she felt as if the property had not been properly cleaned., so I told her I was sending my cleaning crew over there ASAP..... she then hemmed and hawed, and said she did not want them to come right away, she was heading to the store, and would let me know when she came back, so I alerted my crew , and they went to the house and waited for her to return, but when the guest drove up, she went wild and said, they had to leave, and she was not going to let them into the house to clean. ....This behavior sent up a RED FLAG .......When I called her and asked why she would not let my crew in, she said she did not want to be disturbed !!...... I honored her wishes , however, at the end of her stay she demanded that I give her back her money. I told her that I would refund one night.... which I did. All of this happened over two months ago and now TWO MONTHS later, she called VRBO and insisted they get me on the phone because she felt I did not refund her enough. I told her and the VRBO representative that I had refunded her the one night stay, which I had promised and that this request was completed, and case finished, and I then hung up the phone. The guest then started texting and harassing me with mean and disgusting messages which has made me feel unsafe. Example of those texts ....("you are a low life and must come from a very low class upbringing"... and "you are a disgusting person" ... and "do you not answer to God? You are a sad case Burt"...).....As a homeowner, I pride myself in making my guests feel safe, comfortable and happy. It was clear from the start that nothing was going to make this guest happy except money. As I started this response..... Once in a Blue Moon, you get a guest who's goal is to beat you down in price in anyway they can, and in my estimation, this was one of those guests.......... BEWARE, do not rent to this person.
