With panoramic views across Dumfries and Galloway countryside, this property boasts miles of scenic walks on its doorstep. For something a little more fast-paced, the local area offers an abundance of sporting activities from mountain biking to sailing, riding and golfing. Step back in time with a visit to the 18th-century 'food' town of Castle Douglas, home to many independent shops and eateries or pay a visit to the nearby island fortress of Threave Castle. A designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Solway Coast is home to salt marshes, sandy beaches and varied colonies of wildlife.
Inside, this traditional family home harks back to its past through characterful fireplaces, ceiling cornicing, original windows and decorative tapestries. On the ground floor, a welcoming entrance hall opens into a spacious living room complete with open fire for those chillier evenings and a TV with Blu-ray to keep everyone entertained. The traditional farmhouse-style kitchen and dining area opens onto the garden through patio doors. This room is fitted with an electric oven, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave and Rayburn. More formal meals are best enjoyed in the grand dining room, which is furnished with an antique table and chairs fit for special celebrations. There is also a handy utility room with shower and WC on the ground floor. Upstairs are four individually decorated bedrooms, each of which is light and airy with traditional decor. Ideal for families, there are four twin bedrooms and two bathrooms.
With a stream running by, the garden offers a picturesque spot for enjoying summer picnics on the patio. Depending on the weather, choose between a game of tennis outside or take to the games room complete with open fire and sofa and chairs, for an afternoon of billiards, darts or table tennis.
