Chalet traditionnel des années 1940 à Rauland

Motjønnstugu is situated in a secluded, sunny spot amidst the beautiful mountain scenery near Rauland, surrounded by forests, mountains, and open landscapes. Here you’ll find a genuine cabin atmosphere and plenty of space for both family and friends. The cabin has a special history—it was built during World War II by a family from Oslo, and the sister of resistance fighter Jan Baalsrud oversaw the construction.



The living room features log walls and plenty of space around the large dining table, where you can gather for meals and cozy evenings. You can light a fire in the large fireplace or the wood-burning stove after a day out in nature. The kitchen is well-equipped with a dishwasher, coffee maker, and everything you need for cooking. The cabin also has a heat pump, shower, washing machine, and dryer.



Outside, you’ll find several cozy spots to sit, both in the sun and in sheltered nooks. Here you can enjoy your morning coffee in the fresh mountain air, light a fire in the fire pit in the evening, or simply listen to the silence of the mountains. It is about a 100-meter walk from the parking lot to the cabin, which has space for several cars and the option to charge an electric vehicle using a standard outlet.



Just a five-minute walk from the cabin lies Motjønn, a beautiful mountain lake with excellent trout fishing. Fishing rights are included with the rental. The area offers great hiking opportunities right from the cabin door, and in winter it’s about a 20-minute drive to Rauland Ski Center. Right outside there’s also a fantastic sledding hill suitable for the whole family.



As a traditional Norwegian cabin, the cabin has a wood-burning toilet, which requires walking 2 meters outdoors to a covered terrace to access. There is also an outhouse.
