This home had everything we needed and it is in the perfect location - looking right up the road to beach access. Beautiful views, comfortable beds and such so many amenities. Thank you!
My family had a great time here. It's a quick walk to the beach. The owner was very accommodating. It was raining during a good portion of our stay, and the owner offered a later checkout time so we could have more time on the beach when it was sunny.
Our family truly enjoyed our time. The property was as advertised and we could not have been happier. We only wished there was some furniture on the back deck, but it just made us enjoy the front decks that much more.
Fantastic first ever beach trip with my family! Highly recommend Nanaâs! The owner was extremely helpful and upfront with all the rules and policies. Beautiful home! Such a relaxing vacation! The decorations in the home were a very nice touch to the home. It was an amazing vacation and definitely will be going back again! Thank you again for the opportunity!
Nana's Dream was the perfect spot for our long weekend at the beach. The rooms were light-filled, clean and tastefully decorated. Nice bedspreads, silverware and quality cookware are important to me when I choose a rental and Nana's Dream did not disappoint. The only problem we had was deciding which view to enjoy, the marsh or the ocean. Sunsets over the marsh were a highlight. Thanks for sharing your lovely home.
Myself, my daughter, son and niece all had a wonderful time. The house was perfect for us. Loved especially the sunsets outback and sunrises out front. Our favorite thing I would say was the location. To be able to see the ocean from both front decks and have just a short walk to the beach every day was phenomenal. I contacted Lynne a couple times with some questions and she was very quick to answer back. We would absolutely come back again in a heartbeat!
The location of the property and layout was great for our family. We enjoyed easy access to the beach and spending evenings sitting on the decks watching the ocean. The kitchen had all the needed items to allow us prepare meals in the home for several of the evenings we were in Topsail.
Our issues were with communication with Lynn. We did not receive the needed information to check into the property 24 hours in advance as stated in the listing. I reached out on our drive and requested the code to open the key box and received no response. When we arrived at the property, I finally had to call Lynn to get the combination and she seemed very annoyed with our call. Keep in mind we were standing in the rain in front of the property when I called her. We then had to reach out for the WIFI password and finally received the message with the check in information with no apology for the delay or trouble it caused. This was only the beginning of our issues with Lynn. When we checked out and returned home, she kept a substantial portion of our deposit and accused us of not returning furniture to its original locations. Her justification stated, "The green recliner was not put back in it's original position and you could tell that it had been moved as it left prints on the carpet and was not put back on the prints. The blue recliner was half on the carpet, and it does not sit on the carpet. The coffee table was not in the center of the couch but off to one side." We were aware the furniture needed to be "as it was when we entered the home". But we, like most families, did use the furniture which meant that it might not have aligned with "marks on the carpet" upon our departure. It is obvious from Lynn's comments that her true desire was for us to not move the furniture (even an inch). Without living in the home, there was no way for us to know that furniture may have ended up a few inches from its original location and that those few inches would cost us a total of $75. In addition to the charge for "moving" the furniture, she also charged us for a supposed repair to a dishwasher that she claimed had been pulled from the cabinet. We had no issues with the dishwasher, though like the furniture, we did use the dishwasher. The kitchen is a bit dated, and the dishwasher is by no means new. A loose dishwasher should not be attributed to one family but to general upkeep of a beach rental. BEWARE of Nana!
Great location, easy access to beach and/or to get on and off the island. Yes, you have to cross the main road to get to beach, but we never had an issue. Only downside was the road noise that you do get in the front 2 bedrooms, which for some may not be an issue either but Surf City police do like to go by with sirens on at night! Once inside, kitchen is well stocked with everything you will need to cook (Oven, Toaster, Keurig, Microwave, pots, pans etc.) but bring your own cooking spray/seasonings (other than salt and pepper) and lots of bottled water.Family room is as pictured. SmartTV took awhile to figure out without instructions but was great for kids on rainy day.Bedrooms/Bathrooms are fine - comfortable and must have fairly new good beds which is a bonus in a rental. As noted all linens and towels are provided. Also - not atypical, but be sure bring anything you may need for beach, toys, chairs, boogie boards etc.Definitely needs some TLC throughout the home, but every rental does when subject to the salt water, storms and revolving door of summer renters. Owner was very accessible via VRBO app and always responded quickly. Check-in/out was easy and the house was very clean when we got there.
My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay here over 4th of July week. The front and back porches are a great asset to the house. The road indeed can be very busy and loud, but never served as an issue for us. The walk to the beach was a breeze with our kids and a wagon to tote belongings. At night you could hear the waves from the front porches. The outdoor shower around back was great for quick rinses. We will definitely stay again if in the area!
This is our 3rd time on the island and our 3rd time staying at Nanaâs Dream! Each year my review is the same AMAZING! There is so much space for our family, the view from the front and back decks are great, a very short walk to the beach, the kitchen is stocked full with every utensil, dish or pot you need to cook, and Lynne is very nice and responds quickly! Surf City is a beautiful place and this house is perfect for us! We canât wait to come back next summer!
Perfect size for our family of 6. House was a short walk to the beach access, with a somewhat busy road to cross to get there. The check in time in the rental agreement was 3pm, but per the owner was 4pm. The closing instructions posted on the refrigerator were different than the closing instructions provided by the owner via a message in the Vrbo app. This caused miscommunication and unnecessary stress, which was discussed with the homewowner, who says she will get it updated. Homeowner was very responsive.
This was the ideal property for our group of friends and family to stay. Great location and very clean. Plenty of parking in the drive way and super quick access to the beach.
This is our second time at Surf City so we had to stay at Nanaâs dream again! Itâs the perfect size, has just what we need, the balconies are amazing front and back, and the walk to the beach is short! Every time we plan to come to Surf City weâll find a week that this house is available! Thank you again for an amazing week Lynne!đ
The property was exactly what we expected and very accurately represented in the listing. Lynne was very communicative to let us know about some important info with an ongoing repair prior to our arrival. Excellent communication as needed during our stay. We loved the location. The front and back decks were perfect with stunning views at all hours of the day. We truly enjoyed our stay.
2 yrs since seeing the grands and 14yrs missing our Topsail vacations. Nana's Dream was the perfect home away from home to meet up and enjoy the beach. Clean, well-equipped, easy access & communication, short walk to uncrowded beach just north of Surf City. Short drive to Wilmington, Kure Beach and Southport for more sightseeing. Would definitely stay again! Thanks Lynne!
Cute place thatâs close to the beach and everything else. Grocery stores are about 10 minutes away. The house was clean and well maintained. You do have to cross a busy road to get to the beach by walking and since the house sits on the busy road you do hear the traffic noise and loud cars at night as well but other than that itâs a great stay.
A lovely open floor plan house with good views. Close to public beach access, shipping and restaurants. The only drawback is it is on a very busy street. We will stay again.
This house has been by far the best place weâve ever stayed at for vacation. From the moment we first walked in, we knew that we found the perfect place. It was so nice and comfortable with an amazing ac unit running. Loved the openness of the living room and kitchen. The walk to the beach was a breeze. Kids had a blast and loved the house that they even told us they want to come back to this beach house next year. We thoroughly enjoyed all the decks with different levels of views. Another plus note, was nice having a charcoal grill on the sound side to grill some fresh seafood off of topsail island for dinner with some beautiful sunsets. Thank you Lynne
We really enjoyed our stay at Nanaâs Dream! The property had everything we needed for our stay We found the Island to be charming and the owner was very nice to work with. Thank you for a wonderful week!
Hello, I am 'Nana's' daughter. I live in Graham, NC which is about 3 hours from the beach. My husband and I are continuing 'Nana's Dream'. We have one daughter who is married and one son. We also have a wonderful grandson and beautiful granddaughter. We love spending time at the beach with the family. Nana has now passed and we do miss her being with us. Her favorite thing to do while at the house was to read while sitting on the top porch and catching the breezes and watching the ocean.
We fell in love with Surf City more than 40 years ago, when there wasn't very much on the island. My mother always dreamed of owning a house here. She sold her family home to buy this beach house and when looking we knew right off that it was the one for her. Her family home was the Jones family home and this beach house sits at the end of Jones St.
Along with my family and friends, I love to spend lazy days on the beach or reading a good book on one of the porchs. I hope that you will love to spend some lazy days enjoying my second home as much as I do.
