Sitting at the head of the Gare Loch, a sea loch running into the River Clyde at its southern end, the village offers a selection of pubs and shops. The loch itself is ideal for sailing and sea angling and is home to Faslane Naval Base and its associated peace camp. Surrounding the village are many Munros (mountains over 3000ft) and the surrounding hillsides are popular with walkers throughout the year. With Loch Lomond only a short drive away, with its beautiful scenery and renowned golf courses, Garelochhead is an ideal base to explore this dramatic and scenic part of the country.
