The five star, family-run St Andrews Retreat is a luxurious development of two wonderful properties. Each of the houses offers five bedrooms, sleeping ten guests. If you are planning a very special celebration, a group get-together of friends or family or are organising a corporate event, this retreat could be just the place for you. Each of the properties are beautifully appointed with stylish, elegant furnishings and gorgeous colour themes throughout. They enjoy nods to their location with luxury tartan soft furnishings.
St Andrews Retreat boasts a stunning location, surrounded by 65 acres of tranquil countryside. Guests enjoy far reaching countryside views yet are just 10 minutes from the wonderful golfing capital of Scotland, St Andrews. St Andrews Retreat is situated just outside the very picturesque hamlet of Peat Inn. The hamlet is centred on the Michelin starred restaurant The Peat Inn which was built in the mid 1700âs. It is 7 miles south east of Cupar and 6 miles south west of St Andrews. St Andrews is the Kingdom of Fifeâs historic gem, famous also for its university, medieval streets and fantastic traditional buildings including St Andrews Cathedral. This superb golf capital boasts 10 fantastic courses including the renowned Old Course.
St Andrews Country House is built over two floors with the ground floor being home to a very stylish open plan kitchen and dining room, a stunning sun room which is set up for indoor dining and lounging, a beautiful living room, 3 comfortable bedroom suites including a stunning master suite and a laundry room. The designer kitchen is a chefâs dream with excellent oversized appliances, a wine fridge and everything you could hope for to prepare gourmet meals. The dining area is very glamorous. The living room boasts a cosy wood-burning stove, television with Sky channels and doors that open to a patio with your very own luxury hydro spa. The enormous sun room is a fantastic entertaining space which looks out and opens to a private short game golf area, pretty borders and an alfresco dining area. The lower bedroom suites are gorgeous little havens with striking oversized headboards, luxury linens and immaculate ensuite bathrooms. The master also enjoys a walk-in dressing room. Upstairs the house boasts another beautiful living space with a wood-burning stove, sumptuous furnishings and access to a roof terrace as well as the two remaining bedroom suites, an office space and a contemporary family bathroom with a bath. Four of the bedrooms in this house enjoy zip and link beds that can be set up as either large doubles or twins on request and the final offers a superb double bed.
The newest property, St Andrews Lodge, is stylishly furnished and decorated throughout. Interior designers have certainly waved their magic wands on this beautiful house. The Lodge is built on one level so is an accessible property offering a warm welcome and a luxurious, indulgent stay. The very well equipped designer kitchen and breakfast room boasts exceptional appliances and a wonderful atmosphere. There are two living and dining spaces, one at each end of the Lodge. One of the living spaces features a bar with pull up stools, another fabulous aspect. All Sky channels are available when watching the state-of-the-art televisions. The five excellent bedroom suites boast stunning oversized headboards, luxury tartan throws and cushions decorating the beds, dressing areas and immaculate bathrooms. With superb power showers and indulgent roll top baths, the bathrooms are restful, luxurious and certainly spaces where you will want to linger. Guests are provided with robes, slippers and luxury toiletries. Guests will enjoy the sleep of kings on the memory foam, super-sprung, super-king zip and links beds which offer flexible sleeping arrangements.
Outside each of the properties guests can pamper themselves in their private hydro spas with jets that relieve tension in targeted areas. What bliss! Each house offers alfresco dining on the terrace using excellent Mediterranean barbecues. St Andrews Lodge will enjoy a short golf game with pitching mats, holes and bunkers, similar to those at the other two properties. St Andrews is extremely popular for its landscaped, prestigious golf courses but also offers excellent shopping, some wonderful art galleries, interesting museums and spectacular golden beaches. Visitors enjoy fine dining in the atmospheric restaurants as well as delicious ice creams from the local ice cream parlours. There are many exciting and interesting attractions from St Andrews Cathedral and St Andrews Castle to Scotlandâs Secret Bunker. The remains of St Andrews Cathedral are a must-see for any visitor. It was once the largest church in Scotland and the museum is home to a fantastic collection of medieval sculptures and relics which were found on the site. For amazing views across St Andrews and Fife, visitors can climb St Ruleâs Tower which dates from the 12th century. St Andrews Castle enjoys a history spanning 450 years. It has been a bishopâs palace, a fortress and a state prison.
The Old Course is the golfing location which every golfer aspires to visit. It is one of the most famous golf courses in the world and visitors can join an expert guide to walk around the 1st, 17th and 18th holes, walking in the footsteps of golfing legends and experiencing a playerâs eye view. There are ballots to play on the Old Course but you can book in advance to play on some of the other golfing wonders including The Castle Course, The New Course, the Jubilee Course, the Eden Course and the Strathtyrum Course.
Another popular adventure is to take one of the St Andrews Ghost Tours which introduce visitors to many haunted locations including the Cathedral and St Andrews University.
The Fife Pilgrim Way is a wonderfully scenic long-distance walk through the ancient Kingdom of Fife. Visitors can follow in the footsteps of pilgrims who flocked to Fife between the 11th and 16th centuries to be near to the bones of St Andrew, one of Jesusâ disciples. It was considered to be the next best thing to the Holy Land, joining ranks with the Santiago de Compostela and Rome.
Dundee is only half an hour from St Andrews Retreat. It is located on the Firth of Tay estuary and enjoys a regenerated waterfront with two nautical museums, RRS Discovery, Captain Scottâs Antarctic expedition ship and HM Frigate Unicorn, the 19th century warship. There are many museums including Verdant Works which celebrates the cityâs jute manufacturing heritage and The McManus, Dundeeâs Art Gallery and Museum which displays art and archaeological finds.
