The RSPB nature reserve at Strumpshaw Fen is a haven for birdwatchers and nature lovers. Daily boat hire and organised river trips are available. Canoeing and kayaking hire and tuition are also available. The Bure Valley Railway steam train journeys from Wroxham to the market town of Aylsham, with the opportunity to jump on and off at Coltishall, for riverside, pubs and cafés. The City of Norwich has castles, museums, cathedrals, riverside pubs, restaurants, two indoor shopping malls and plenty of shops for retail therapy. Sandy beaches at Sea Palling, Caister-on-Sea, and Winterton-on-Sea. National Trust’s Horsey Gap (16 miles) to walk along the sand dunes and visit the seals and pups on the beach (November to February). Lively traditional seaside resort at Great Yarmouth (15 miles).
