Hen Dafarn - an on the beach that sleeps 5 guests in 3 bedrooms
Hen Dafarn (The Old Tavern) has oodles of ancient character and quirk. Its whitewash age gleams and is a welcome sight in the sun. Getting there is an adventure across the sandy beach (or a walk on the coastal headland path and down), but it's all part of the fun.
It may seem a little rustic for some but it's unique and memorable. Find a double bedroom with magnificent sea views and ample space. and a small but perfectly formed bunk bedroom next-door. Across the landing another double room also has sea views from the peephole windows hewn from the stone thick walls.
The kitchen is smart with all the mod cons but with ancient quarry tiles. It's here right by the beach where you will spend most of your time being captivated, stargazing, or toasting your good fortune over lobster dinner. You won't have a problem sourcing seafood here. Outdoors is a joy â never a dull moment watching the fisherman pass by and the beach thrive. The harbour shows glimpses of its past â old remnants of a shipping and herring trade can be found by intrepid searchers.
The old tavern was centred around the hearth and that still glows with warmth as it would have done 400 years ago. You can buy ale from Cwrw Llyn up the road and grab a local history book to transport back in time.
What a fantastic location. Waking up every morning to a stunning view and opening the door straight onto the beach. Wonderful for the grandkids. The sea was so clear and the sand is golden. If I was being critical I would have liked the usd of a microwave for the grandkids and the mattress in the king size is in need of changing. I could feel the springs !!Overall though I thought it was a great holiday and would recommend it . To be fair itâs fully booked all year !!
We had an incredible few days staying in this magical cottage on the beach. The location is perfect for beach lovers & is easy to access the coast path for stunning walks. The cottage itself was full of interesting historic features, clean, well presented, comfortable and well equipped. We have rebooked for next year! Thank you
Historic cottage on the beach.
Vehicular access is limited but can be done carefully or at right tide time. Otherwise park on slipway which is circa 7-10 minutes on foot.
Stunning location.
Only downside for us was demolition work that was taking place on Friday at nearby cottage which was very noisy & spoiled ambience. If this has finished, then donât let it deter you.
Bring own shower gel (there wasnât any when we stayed). However, cottage was lovely & clean.
Beautiful views from bedrooms & front lounge / kitchen / front door.
Lovely coastal path walk to Ty Coch nearby.
Home comforts - cosy and comfortable with real fire & books.
Memorable stay in magical place!
The location of the cottage is outstanding, right on the beach - fantastic.
Very cosy with everything you need.
Excellent that we could take our dogs and they thoroughly enjoyed the beach.
We will definitely be booking again
The only thing I would say is donât follow the properties postcode as it doesnât take you to the beach slip road.
