Lovely villa but not as described!

A lovely villa that could offer so much more with a little TLC. Advertised as having oven, grill, microwave, dishwasher had none of these. Very basic kitchen with a fridge freezer and hob. Issue with water at the villa - on three occasions we had no running water from 9pm until the next morning. Electrics kept tripping too. Curtains didn’t meet and so the beautiful early morning sunshine woke up my chils so ended up all having to sleep in the one bedroom in a double bed. TV needed a pin and although management said they’d sort the next day they never did. Pool was cleaned 3 days during our stay however needed to be done more often. Management did leave a pool net eventually which helped us to maintain it from the bugs and leaves. If coming with children be aware that the hotel entertainment from the hotel opposite is quite loud and can be heard inside the villa. That said - it is in a lovely location and walking to the beach and local cafe was fab!

Dear Claire We were very disappointed to read your 2-star review, which we feel does not fairly reflect either the villa itself or the service you received. It also differs notably from the tone and content of your messages to us via the VRBO dashboard, which we find disingenuous. There were also a number of discrepancies between the messages you sent us throughout your stay and the feedback you have now chosen to publish. You raised concerns regarding the water supply; as was explained, this was due to the electrics tripping—a simple matter that could have been resolved by resetting the switch. Despite this, we arranged for a technician to visit the villa twice during your stay to assist. The villa is not marketed as a high-end luxury property with daily servicing but rather as an excellent value option in a prime location. It is thoroughly cleaned prior to arrival, and a mid-stay clean is standard for this category of rental. Regarding the pool, we responded promptly to your concern and had it cleaned three times during your stay—more than is customary. The addition of a pool net enabled you to maintain it yourself between visits, which is perfectly reasonable in a self-catering villa. Debris such as leaves and the occasional insect is, unfortunately, part of the natural setting and cannot be entirely avoided. While you mentioned the nearby hotel’s entertainment, this is not something within our control, and many guests find the vibrant local atmosphere part of the charm of the area. You also noted the villa’s excellent location near the beach and cafés, which we believe is a key highlight. At just €45 per person per night, we believe Villa Nouvia offers good value for its location and facilities. We had a lovely family holiday at Villa Nout. Communication prior to the visit and the check in procedure were excellent. The location for the beach and local shops/bars is excellent, though the photographs on the listing are very outdated. There is a large hotel adjacent, which causes shade on the villa pool from mid afternoon. The noise from the hotel was not intrusive. It just provided some quiet background music to our al fresco dinner, which we found quite pleasant. The garden is tired and needs attention and the loungers could do with replacing. However, we enjoyed the pool very much and it was well serviced while we were there. The villa provides the best cleaning service we have ever experienced (from many holidays). A cleaning team came every other day, to clean and replace towels. The kitchen equipment is very basic, without an oven but a decent enough hob, kettle and a good fridge/freezer. The addition of an air fryer could easily solve it, and a few more pans and plates would be good. The villa doesn’t have an information book on site and though we had a phone number for a local contact it was very hard to get an answer from them. A book with WiFi password, where to find the fuse box (as the electricity tripped while we were there) etc would be useful. We did have slightly more success with the office number and the localcontact was really helpful when we locked ourselves out. The villa is good value for money though could easily be updated a little.

We are, however, disappointed to learn that certain aspects did not fully meet your expectations. We do not believe that your comments entirely warrant a disappointing review, as had you contacted us directly during your stay, we would have immediately informed the local villa manager to resolve matters for you. Occasionally, especially in peak season, responses from local managers may be slower as they are responsible for several properties, but our own team is always available to step in and assist. Your suggestions regarding the kitchen equipment, information book, and garden presentation are greatly appreciated and will be shared with the villa’s owners and management team for consideration. We constantly work to ensure our properties are both comfortable and practical, and guest feedback plays an important role in this. We are very pleased that overall you felt the villa offered good value for money and provided a memorable family holiday.
