The Dog and Duck House are a pair of beautiful, idyllic one bedroom country retreats, with all the comfort and cosiness you could wish for whilst on holiday on Anglesey. We also have a log cabin on site that can be found under a different listing called The Peacock Cabin.
Whatever the weather you will enjoy the comfort offered in either of these properties, and the fun and excitement of the surrounding area. The sitting rooms with their log burning stoves provide the setting for relaxing after a day out exploring the natural beauty of the Isle of Anglesey and the surrounding National Park.
We have sensitively renovated the properties over the last 4 years and have done much of the work ourselves taking into account every minute detail. Our hope is that we have created relaxing and calm spaces that enable you to fully unwind and enjoy time spent in this beautiful part of the world. The natural beauty of the area speaks for itself and if you enjoy the outdoors and love natural history this is definitely the place to visit - you will not be disappointed.
Both the Dog House and the Duck House have a sleeping capacity of 2 +2 people each, however we have an adjoining door (sensitively hidden between them and locked if each cottage is rented separately) that allows access to the adjoining cottage if required. This enables two families/couples or group of friends to enjoy both spaces together, or a larger family to be able to rent the complete space. The additional sleeping for 2 people in each of the cottages is a sofa bed so you would need to be organised and know each other well!
Friendly owners.
Beautiful open aspects around the whole property.
Comfortable lounge area, well equipped kitchen, comfy bed and a huge shower đ
A real home from home.
Very well equipped cottage in a peaceful area with good access to family friendly cycle paths, forrest walks and the beach. We had a four night stay with our granddaughters, snug fit for four but more spacious and comfortable than a caravan!!
What a lovely, cosy cottage stay with very welcoming hosts. Our dog loved it too. Bit hard to find initially just using the postcode, but once you spot it the other side of the bridge things are simple and straightforward.
We really enjoyed our stay at âThe Dog Houseâ. The owners have done a lovely job creating a cosy and homely holiday retreat in a quiet countryside area that is only a few minutes drive or cycle from the nearby village of Malltreath. From there Newborough Forest was only 30 minutes walk. We particularly enjoyed the peafowl roaming the garden. Dog friendly. Would stay again.
A fantastic place to stay, such a peaceful retreat to escape to, which myself, my husband and our dog loved very much. The setting is very rural, rustic and idyllic, surrounded by animals, birds, forrest and beaches. Ben and Katie are lovely hosts and made use feel very welcome and comfortable. We will be returning.
Tucked away is this little hidden gem. So much more superior to what we were expecting. Lovely touches such as Welsh cakes, bottle of wine, fresh eggs and treats for our dog. The cooking facilities in the kitchen are much more than youâd expect in a rental. The shower is huge, powerful and warm. Access is via the garden (which is shared with the attached property (The Duck House). Peafowl and hens freely wander around. I definitely recommend and itâd be my first choice when I next come back to the area.
Words cannot describe the relaxed and wonderful home that Ben and Katie provided. We both wish we could have stayed all summer long. Beautiful
Place, beautiful people and all my favourite animals xxx
We stayed for one night to try to see some stormy weather on Anglesey. The accomodation was absolutely perfect for us. Its spotless and extremely well equipped. Welshcakes and a bottle of wine welcomed us which is a lovely touch. The wood burning fire was a treat and the shower was the best I have ever stepped into. The owners have creatively made the shower floor out of small pebbles and i actually felt as though I was standing on a beach - very clever indeed. The accomodation is tasteful and creative and has a real homely feel. The owners do live on site, but left us to it which is our preference. However, they do offer an immediate response if you need it. We asked for more logs and within minutes we had them. This place is beautiful.
Every thing about this stay was perfect. The hosts were friendly and welcoming.
The cottage had fresh eggs, coffee and tea and milk, Welsh cakes, and a nice bottle of wine as a welcome gift.
The kitchen is well appointed, the bedroom is very comfortable, fantastic bedding and the bathroom,
especially the shower is gorgeous and huge.
The grounds are lovely, there is a pond that makes a soothing sound for sleeping, the chairs outside are a nice place to sit on a sunny day.
It is close to many great hikes like on Llanddwyn Island and a short drive to Holyhead.
For Canadian/North American travellers I would recommend stopping at one of the gas stations (gas stations have small grocery stores that are really well stocked compared to rural Ontario) before arriving for snacks and other beverages as it is wonderfully remote and quiet and once you are there you won't want to leave to find these items.
I would give this stay a 100% and would go back in a second.
This was our 3rd stay at the Dog and Duck House. Lovely cottages with great facilities in a great location for trips to Newborough beach and the other attractions on the Island. Great walks straight from the door. We had brilliant weather for February which always helps.
Duck cottage was everything we wanted and more. Within easy reach of A55 yet very quiet and secluded. Close to stunning beach and forest, wished we had longer to explore Anglesey. Welcome pack of eggs Malbec and Welsh cakes was a lovely touch.
Overall the property met our expectations . Great living space and bathroom. On the downside the bedroom carpet had a stale smell and the bedroom skirtings needed a wipeover. Taking all this into consideration we will almost certainly pay this cottage more visits.
From the minute you park outside your cottage you know this is going to be all youâd hoped for. Superb for both dogs & children. If you want to step out of the rat race for a short while this is the place to go. Lovely friendly hosts backed up by their lovely dogs. Margot so cute & donât be fooled by Ruby laid back Labrador gave our Goldendoodle a good run. The Duck House is really cosy absolutely everything you need. Ideal 2x adults & we often had the neighbours 2x dogs the hosts 2x dogs who popped into collect treats & our own who was only too happy to go our for a run round. A real doggie heaven. You will not be disappointed we loved our stay.
Lovely property, everything at hand. Shame because of weather we couldnât sit in the garden but log fire gave comfort. You do need a car because of location. We had very nice neighbors next door in The Doghouse who also had a dog - nice friend for our dog Cassie to play with outside.
We stayed at the duck house and loved it. Great for 2 people (and a dog!). Lovely and comfy and warm inside. Great location for walks and fantastic views. Katie and Ben were lovely hosts and the wine and welsh cakes were a lovely touch. Ben also bought us freshly laid duck eggs which were fab! We will be back!
A lovely cottage, perfect for us and our dog. The area is lovely and we enjoyed some great walks. A couple of minor issues with the property including some radiators not working.
Wonderfully peaceful and comfortable. Slept soundly. Lovely welcoming gifts.
Friendly and welcoming hosts. Super comfy bed.
The only drawback was the amount of potholes on the lane!!!!......but this wouldn't stop another stay :)
Where do I start .... there is so much to say .We have had a lovely time in duck cottage it was comfortable , spotlessly clean , beautifully presented in a idyllic rural spot on Anglesey . We loved everything about this place including the lovely owners Katie and Ben with ruby their dog .
We will definitely return !
We have had the most relaxing break in the Duck House! Clean, comfortable and cosy accommodation. The cottage itself has everything you could possibly need. The welcome pack was lovely and included the most delicious homemade marmalade. The bed is large and extremely comfy and the cottage is furnished to a high standard with lots of cute quirky features. The surroundings are very peaceful as it is situated off the beaten track, just perfect if you like a quiet break.
We enjoyed it very much and would definitely recommend it to others.
I am a Clinical Psychologist and my partner, Ben is an Area Manager for a railway company. We have four children between us and three grandchildren, as well as lots of animals, including sheep, horses, dogs, hens, and peafowl (all of which you will see if you come and stay). As a result, we are very busy, and love meeting new people who come and stay at the cottages. We are always on hand to help in any way we can.
The Dog and Duck House are a beautifully renovated stable block. We have made them homely and comfortable with all you will need to enjoy a break away in the wonderful Welsh countryside. There is plenty of space outside to enjoy, wonderful walks from the door and beautiful beaches just a stone's throw away. Dogs are more than welcome, and they will find some biscuits awaiting them upon arrival.
