Mama La Roosa - Deux Chambres Villa, Couchages 4

Mama La Roosa offers an exquisite escape in the hills of Agia Pelagia, near Heraklion. This joyful, contemporary gem enjoys two master bedroom suites, stunning living space and absolutely fantastic outdoor space. With whitewashed walls, gorgeous contemporary colour splashes, trendy furnishings and the most phenomenal views down to the azure sea and over to the tree sprinkled mountains, Mama La Roosa is a luxurious haven of tranquility and beauty. It is perfect for families or two couples. This spectacular, totally secluded setting does the wooing and offers total relaxation.

Mama La Roosa is nestled between the charming seaside resort of Agia Pelagia, a laid-back, charming fishing village and Lygaria Cove. Agia Pelagia boasts friendly waterside tavernas and a beautiful protected beach that is perfect for snorkeling and other watersports, including jet skiing and scuba diving. The waterfront is sprinkled with handicrafts shops, beach bars and excellent seafood restaurants. Inland, the whitewashed Ekklisia Agia Pelagia is a former monastery that dates back to the Venetian period. Lygaria Cove enjoys a gorgeous sand and pebble beach and delicious traditional Cretan cuisine in its tavernas. Heraklion, the island’s capital is only 15km away with its wild and exciting nightlife, excellent shopping, fantastic ancient monuments and characterful Old Town.

The villa boasts a dazzling whitewashed exterior which is magically brightened by its gorgeous green toned doors and windows frames. Mama La Roosa sits in a wonderful lush plot surrounded by towering pines and cypress trees. The garden areas are beautifully landscaped and the pool deck is sublime. When you are not basking in the sun on one of the trendy loungers or lounging in the chic hammock reading your holiday book, you can be lazing on the floating lounger enjoying the soft splash of water. This location offers magical views of rolling hills that spill down to the glistening sea. There are plenty of luxurious touches such as the jute pouffes and rugs, comfy bean bag chairs, a swing, two exquisite shaded alfresco dining and lounge spaces and a magnificent barbecue area that complete the fairytale picture. Despite super stylish interiors, Mama La Roosa is a villa where you will want to spend most of your time outside with these dreamy spaces.

The opulence and brilliant taste continues inside with a spacious open plan living area which enjoys direct access to the terrace. Huge walls of glass bifold doors slide open to bring the outside in and to drown the stylish space in natural light. The lower living area is furnished simply with a sumptuous sofa and accent wing chairs as well as a super cool rug and a huge television. Just above is a gorgeous dining area and the trendy sociable kitchen. The kitchen enjoys the very best of appliances, a breakfast bar with fashionable stools and some lovely light green tones as well as wooden cabinetry. Here you can perch on a stool, open a bottle of local wine that has been chilling in your wine fridge and keep the chef company.

Mama La Roosa enjoys two master bedroom suites. They both feature beautifully dressed kingsize beds, gorgeous views, luxury in room or ensuite shower rooms and a wonderful romantic ambience. There is no need for artwork on the walls as the attention to detail feels like art in itself, a carefully placed wooden shelf, a trendy open wardrobe and views to die for. The super stylish walk-in shower rooms come with fluffy dressing gowns and towels as well as luxury toiletries. Bedtime is definitely a treat at Mama La Roosa where you will dive deep into slumber on quality natural Coco-Mat mattresses. Location:

Mama La Roosa enjoys a wonderful elevated position above Agia Pelagia and Lygaria. The sea and mountain views from this gorgeous property are totally dreamy. Agia Pelagia is a peaceful, relaxed fishing village, perfect for families and foodies who love cuisine made with fresh local ingredients, stunning scenery and utter tranquility. There are some wonderful tavernas, some cute boutiques and a stunning sandy beach. This pretty seaside village sits in the centre of a picturesque amphitheatric bay, northwest of Heraklion. Agia Pelagia takes its name from the church in the Monastery of the Sebbathians, the ruins of which are one kilometre west of the village. Surrounded by hills and mountains, Agia Pelagia is a great location with nine small sandy and rocky beaches that can be reached by foot. Next door is the very popular, sheltered sand and pebble Lygaria Bay. Mononaftis Bay, Kladissos Bay, Made Beach, Psaromoura Beach, Fylakes Beach, Paliokastro and Ammoundi are all wonderful. Some of the gorgeous coves can only be reached by boat.

Just 15km away is the island’s capital, Heraklion. With gorgeous beaches, lively hangouts, dusk-til-dawn clubbing, a fine dining scene, designer boutiques and plenty of ancient buildings, there is something for everyone. Heraklion’s charm concentrates around the Old Town and its Venetian harbour. You will discover the impressive church of Agios Titos, the square originally built by the Byzantine emperor Nicephorus Phocas in 961, the armoury and the city hall. Another fabulous spot is the lively Morosini Square with its Lions’ Head fountain. At the entrance of the harbour, the Koules Fortress stands proud gazing out to sea. It took its final form between 1523 -1540 and served as a prison during Ottoman rule. Across from the harbour, the Venetian shipyards make for a romantic backdrop. Many visitors enjoy walking along the city’s Venetian walls, pausing in small shady parks and admiring the work of the famous Venetian architect, Michele Sanmicheli, who designed the walls and bastions more than 400 years ago. The Archaeological Museum of Heraklion is considered to be one of the most important museums in Europe. The pedestrianised Daedalus shopping street is full of designer stores, perfect for those who like to shop. The market is fantastic, full of honey, olive oil and herbs as well as clothes and souvenirs. Golf lovers can head to Hersonissos, not far from Heraklion.

The famous Palace of Knossos is within easy reach. According to legend, the foundations of the Bronze Age city were filled with an inescapable labyrinth that was guarded by a vicious minotaur. The master craftsman Daedalus built the labyrinth for the mythical King Minos. His son, Theseus, slew the minotaur and found his way out of the labyrinth with the help of Minos’ daughter, Ariadne, according to legend. The palace flourished during the Minoan period as the religious centre of Crete. Thanks to the archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans’ excavation and careful restoration, the Palace of Knossos is one of the most fascinating archaeological sites in Greece.

The gorgeous Rethymno is nestled to the west of Mama La Roosa offering a fascinating history, delicious local wine, charming waterfront tavernas and breathtaking, stunning beaches. In the old quarter, the buildings date back to the 16th century and its pretty, cobbled streets and stamp-sized piazzas are lined with restaurants and unique shops. The Venetian styled harbour is beautiful and is overlooked by the castle. On the way to Rethymno you could stop at Bali. Otherwise, you might also like to visit  Agia Galini, Plakias or Adelianos Kampos which are gorgeous. The historical monasteries of Preveli and Arkadi are also very popular visits.
