Laurieknowe Coach House - a cottage that sleeps 5 guests in 3 bedrooms
Laurieknowe Coach House has a quiet and private location but is only a very short walk to all that the town centre has to offer. The town has many historical links to both Scotland's bloody past through Robert the Bruce and more refined culture with figures such as Robert Burns, who lived, worked and in the town while only a 5 minute walk away is Moat Brae House which inspired Peter Pan's creation, the house is now open to the public so that you can enjoy it's history and fascination too. The River Nith runs through the town with attractive and peaceful walks and public parks. The cottage is a new conversion from a former coach house and provides a luxurious holiday base fully equipped for quiet nights in after a day of exploring or if you would rather then there are many restaurants, Inns and other food outlets nearby. Dumfries is well-placed to enjoy all kinds of opportunities for wildlife-watching, walking and hill-walking, visiting gardens and exploring castles and abbeys. There is a wide variety of locations to experience, including forests and coastal areas.

Comfortable accommodation near Dumfries town center
Surprisingly large cottage just 10 minutesâ walk from Dumfries town. Nice kitchen, comfortable sitting room, two double bedrooms and one single. Good utility room and two bathrooms. Just be aware that parking can be a bit of a tight fit, and we left our suitcases downstairs as the upstairs bedroom is a little space constrained.
Communication with the host was good, and house rules are very simple. An easy stay. Recommended for families or small groups looking for an accessible place near the town center.
Laurieknowe Coach House, Dumfries
This is a hidden gem in Dumfries, we stayed in January and loved the quiet setting, the feeling of security and ease of access to all you need in the local area. Our hosts were really welcoming and the accommodation was super clean and comfortable. We were in Dumfries for a sporting event and during the week various friends and family visited the accommodation and were all equally impressed with the Coach House, commenting on how impressed they were and that this would be their first choice the next time they find themselves in Dumfries. We would have no hesitation in returning or in recommending this to other families. Thanks again for making our stay so memorable.
