In the village there is a good selection of pubs, restaurants, and shops within walking distance. The thriving main streets also boasts lots of small independent stores, galleries, etc.Down near the seashore, the striking Broughty Castle is well worth a visit. Dating back to 1490 when it was built to protect the Tay estuary, it now houses a wonderful quaint museum which explains the history of this pretty fishing village.The famous golf courses at Carnoustie and St Andrews are close by and there are other excellent courses locally for avid golfers to test their links game. The beautiful sandy beach nearby provides a haven for wildlife and a visit to Broughty ferry rock gardens is a must. Families love the excellent childrenâs playpark at Castle Green and there are lots of local coastal cycle paths too.
