Traditional New Forest Cottage in picturesque setting with direct access to the New Forest for woodland walks. The cottage is also just opposite the village Church and 2 minutes stroll from a popular local pub offering good food and pretty gardens. Charming and spacious and right in the heart of Emery Down, the Nook is also just a short stroll from Lyndhurst, with all it's shops, restaurants and facilities, and enjoys a beautifully peaceful location where ponies and donkeys wander the village.
Nice area with good eateries nearby, property was a little neglected in parts we felt and could do with some TLC e.g. garden furniture and cleanliness of dishwasher etc.
Good accommodation, dog friendly.
Lovely area for dog walking, surrounded by some interesting villages.
Two dog friendly pubs within walking distance of property serving great food....
Received a welcome package of bread milk and a bottle of wine, lovely touch. Thank you.
Super easy check in. Great communication with the property owner, Lisa. We attended a funeral at Christchurch, which is directly across the street. Easy walk to Lyndhurst for groceries. The Pub is excellent and friendly.
Ideal location, picturesque view looking across to the church. Comfortable beds, great for self catering. Exactly as described. Plenty of room. Easy to find. Would stay here again and highly recommend. Host was very helpful and kindly allowed us to check in early as we had just arrived in the UK from Australia and were so tired after our long flight.
Enjoyed our holiday, the area is truly beautiful waking up to ponies standing in front of the property. Would just make some suggestions. Three ceiling lights in lounge are out, the lights in the dining area flicker constantly clearly a minor problem Iâm sure. Light in fridge also out. These are minor issues and I mention them as constructive criticism. Lisa the owner is lovely and keeps contact throughout your booking.
Overall stay was great, property is old style but this is not a major issue. Lovely set up downstairs, bedrooms are a good size. Mattress in the smallest bedroom is very squeaky so we didnt use that one as only 4 of us but if there was 6 that would have been an issue. Had an issue with heating not working upstairs but it was sorted, owner sent a key but we had already got it working. Would stay again, location is great 2 pubs in walking distance
Super location, clean and tidy, just needs some TLC
This property is brilliant as a base for the new forest, local walks, pub and Lindhurst. There are all the modern facilities, oven, dishwasher, washing machine and tunble dryer. The house isclean but does really need updating as overall there are lots of stains and wear and tear. The garden was very untidy and overgrown. As we were out every day we werent too bothered. The shower was very tricky as its under a sloped ceiling so being 6 foot 2 i had a tricky time. The Tv signal was also very patchy but again we only watched a little after the kids went to bed.
We gave everything a quick hoover and clean before leaving but the vacuum cleaner was dreadfully underpowered but hopefully it was ok for the owner.
Overall 4 stars, just needs some updating and redecoration.
Best decision to book this excellent cottage in a beautiful village setting. Owner absolutely lovely and very helpful. Located in the New Forest âŠâŠ.stunning đ
We had a lovely stay, 5 adults and a dog. The property was spacious, comfortable with a secluded garden space. A few pubs in walking distance with Lyndhurst about a 15 minute walk away.
The cottage is in a nice quiet village just a short distance from Lyndhurst. The three double bedrooms are nice sizes the is bathroom adequate but could do with being updated as there was mould in the bathroom and the shower difficult to use if you are 6ft tall as its over the bath and the ceiling slopes. The kitchen has everything you need and the outdoor space is great for sitting in the sun but the garden needs trimming back, but all minor details. Overall we enjoyed our stay at The Nook and its a great location to visit the New Forest.
We just arrived home after a lovely long Easter weekend stay at The Nook in Emery Down, just outside Lyndhurst. A lovely cottage just as described. Such a fantastic location, in a quiet setting of Emery Down village but able to walk to great pubs there and in Lyndhurst. We would definitely recommend this property and area.
Emery Down is a lovely village with great pub, the New Forest Inn, within easy walking distance and great food and atmosphere.
Lovely welcome pack from Lisa of milk, wine and bread with starter sachets of butter and jam. Everything you need was supplied. Cottage was clean and cosy, but beware there were different floor levels within the premises which may not be suitable for young children or eldery. Great base for exploring the New Forest. Hope to return soon.
This house has maintenance, and equipment issues (you couldn't cook for 6 people), and the bathroom is poor. Towels poor. There is only seating for 4 in the lounge. Also on a busy corner with traffic noise in peak times. Walks round Emery Down are lovely and we enjoyed them very much. The Village pub is also good with hearty food offerings!

This is a truly special cottage, right in the heart of the village close to Lyndhurst and with Forest walks, ponies, donkeys and great New Forest pubs all a short stroll away. Gorgeous views of the local village church and Forest opposite make this a very special place.
Relaxed and welcoming, the Nook has all you'll need for a lovely stay. Parking, outside seating and gardens, great living spaces, a well equipped kitchen, huge dining table, cosy living room with log burner, and all in one of the best locations in the New Forest.
