We’ve been coming to the NEK for years and this was by far the best, most serene, well appointed waterfront property we have stayed in! Michael was easy to work with and eager to help with any questions. Bald Hill Pond is quite the hidden gem! We can’t wait to come back for more Vermont fun!
Relax with loons
This was one of the most relaxing places I've stayed in Vt. The owners were very nice to deal with and also would them give a 5 star for being very informative of the area and for being a phone call away when I need help getting in the first night we arrived. Everything was clean and the home had everything we needed from the kayaks and canoe to the coffee maker and kuereg and the views. Hearing the loons were definitely awesome to hear with the echoing landscape.
This home is in a beautiful location, with sweeping views of the pond and mountains. The kitchen and house are very well equipped and we only needed to bring ourselves, suitcases and groceries. Everything is neat and clean. Communication with Michael was excellent and he was very responsive to any questions we had, and we were lucky to meet him when he came to the house to replace a piece of equipment. We highly recommend this property to anyone considering a rental--you wlll love it as we did!
Great time in a wonderful cabing
I spent the 4th of July week at this great location with my wife, and two teenage sons. The only thing wrong with our visit was how fast the time went by. The cabin is just as advertised and immaculate. The location is perfect on Bald Hill Pond. There are just a few houses but the trees between them make it a very secluded property. We spent a good deal of time on the water swimming and with the kayaks. We fished each day from the boats with some success. My wife enjoyed the small fish that would huddle around you in the shallow water checking you out. There was a mother duck with nine ducklings that made the rounds each day for a visit and the loons were always present. We traveled about 40 minutes to Derby, VT to visit a lavender farm. I recommend Junipers for a nice meal and view. We also had a lot of luck in Lyndonville with the Pizza Man for quicker meals. Cabin had all we needed to cook several meals in the kitchen and grill outside. Communication with the owner was great with helpful tips. We even survived not having internet service for the week. We actually found that if you walked up the drive to Brown Pond or kayaked to the North end of the lake we could get service. The cabin has sat TV with a lot of choices and good selection of board games which we took advantage of. We hit the $5 bin at Walmart on the way up for some DVD but never ended up using them we had so much fun outside. I highly recommend the property for anyone looking for some quality family time and fun in the area.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review,Stephen!Michael and I are so happy to hear how much you enjoyed your vacation on Bald Hill Pond!!!
PS(Junipers is also our favorite and our son and his friends LOVE the Pizza Man;)
Awesome family gathering getaway!!!!!
My husband and I wanted a quiet place to rest during our son's wedding reception. This place was absolutely the perfect spot. Very relaxing and was able to enjoy ourselves preparing for the reception which was on a Thursday in Barton and we were able to have a good rest after the reception at the cabin. At beginning it was difficult getting through with the owners but it took some time for them to realize that we are deaf. Our stay was awesome and we loved every minute of it. Wished we could stay longer and would love coming back in the future. It was like our home away!!! Wished we had washer and dryer and one more bathroom in the house, also Wi-Fi. Overall it was beautiful!!!

The perfect getaway!
My husband, 12 year old son and I just spent a week at this cabin, and it never disappoints! This is our second vacation at this cabin and I highly recommend it. The cabin itself is absolutely immaculate and is stocked with DVDs, games, and plenty of kitchenware for those days that you decide to eat in. There is also a gas grill that we used several times. With no jet skis or motor boats on the pond, the kayaks provided are the perfect way to begin and end the day. So peaceful. The neighbors abutting the property are very friendly, but the way the homes are situated there is a good chance you won't ever see them!
St. Johnsbury is an easy drive from the property, and there are several craft breweries in the area (within a 60-90 minute drive) that make for fun day trips as well. For the most part we just stayed at the cabin and swam, read, played games, fished and kayaked. There is almost no internet access (i.e. if you stand on the cover of the well and hold out your cell phone like you're the Statue of Liberty your texts and emails may load to your phone), but being unplugged for the week was awesome.
Last, the owners are very easy to communicate with and do everything that they can to ensure that you will enjoy your stay. We will definitely be back!
Thank you so much for the wonderful review.Michael and I are so happy that your second stay at Tall Tales Lodge was as relaxing and as enjoyable as the first.
Ironically, our son, Theo, was at basketball camp at Wheaton the week Owen was at the cabin.
Enjoy the rest of the summer!
Michael, Linnea & Theo
P.S.( I love the comment about the phone reception! Anyone that has stayed at the cabin knows that is not an exaggeration;)
