Quiet villa which may need some refreshment but with all amenities. Housing and pool cleaning done regularly. Lack of information about surroundings, restaurants, beaches, places to see, etc... A real good experience
wunderbares Ferienhaus, herrlicher Meerblick, sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Herrlicher Pool, nicht weit zu schönen StrĂ€nden, Orten, SehenswĂŒrdigkeiten. Immer wieder gern, sehr zu empfehlen!
Couple - 2 weeks in Sept 2018 Easy booking process and communication with owner.
We really enjoyed the spacious villa as our base to explore the area.
Thalia (2 bed) has fantastic views across the bay to the mountains, such a pleasure to admire when eating breakfast, lunch or dinner. Very private and secluded, not overlooked, huge pool (cleaned twice a week, along with the villa). We had clean towels/bed linen twice a week. The owner gave us great directions and we found the place no problem, about half hour from the airport. Wifi was good for us, however Kalamaki villas were not, all occupied at the time. I would recommend bringing a hairdryer, plenty of plug sockets near mirrors.
I wouldn't agree that the villas were wheelchair friendly, however everything inside the villa is on one floor, no way of getting down to the pool area. One one gripe for us, there was music/loud speakers from the Hotel Sunrise entertainment crew about half a mile away most evenings, a bit difficult to get away from. Would recommend a hire car, you cannot walk the local area from the villa. The approach road is a bit steep, windy and bumpy, however we have had worse. Petalidi is a lovely nearby village with some lovely tavernas, cafes and small shops. A church and a childrens playground. Market evening on Thursday. Suggest stocking up at Lidl on the way from airport. I would say it's lovely Greek area (as it should be) not touristy, if you are looking for lots of entertainment. We had a lovely meal at Platanos, just a few streets away up the top of the hill. We were shown into the kitchen to choose our meal. We like to eat early (ish), recommend arriving 8pm or later.
From start to finish booking this property was easy and stress free. The owner Chris Christodoulou answered any query we sent via e-mail very quickly which was great. We flew with easy jet to Kalamata airport which is about a 20-30 minute journey by car to the villa. The driving instructions we were given by Chris Christodoulou were very good and we found the villa easily. The road up to the villa is a track which is very uneven and steep and the smaller track branching off this up to villa Thalia is even bumpier, twistier and steeper and although the owner said any car we hired would be alright, we feel that you would need a reasonably high powered car to negotiate the slope. After reading a previous review we decided to hire a small SUV which we were glad we did as it managed the slope well in a low gear. The property was very well equipped, clean and had comfortable beds and plenty of places for dining and relaxing. The view from the balcony across the bay was fantastic as was the size of the swimming pool. There was a patio table and chairs for six on the balcony and also another table with two outside settees, also a bbq. The interior of the property was spacious especially as there was just the two of us but I think four people would also have had plenty of room. There was a lot of wardrobe space in both bedrooms and plenty of electric sockets throughout the property. Everything you would need for a self catering holiday is provided apart from one item which is a hairdryer, some self catering properties provide them some do not so I packed one just in case this was a do not, but an extra line in the property details to say bring your own would be helpful for those who cannot manage without one. The property was cleaned mid week, with a bed linen change, and at the same time the pool maintenance was carried out. If you want to eat out then a short trip along the main road takes you to Chrani which has a few tavernas and further on is a small fishing village called Agios Andreas which has some excellent tavernas , a couple of supermarkets a few other shops and an ATM. There is a supermarket called Billy's on the main road into Chrani (about 5 mins by car from the villa) which opens very late, we passed at 9.30pm and he was still open. Even taking the road into consideration we would thoroughly recommend staying at this property this is a villa well worth a visit
