We didn’t expect to clean dishes, utensils, pots and pans before being able to use them and floors, beds, and bathrooms. The kitchen floors have lots of dirt in the corners of the cabinets. The toaster oven was dirty inside and out, coffee maker was dirty, the were glasses were filthy dirty. We used the same dishes and silverware over and over to avoid washing everything in the cupboards. Biggest issue is the bat guano in laundry room, the 2 bedrooms upstairs on the beds and on the floors, in the showers, on the steps going to the 2nd floor, out on the balcony and table and chairs, along with the patio at the pool level had quite a large amount of bat guano everywhere, which we swept 2 days and finally just left it go after that as we were a bit discouraged. We did show it to Veronica but she either didn’t understand or forgot to clean it up the 1 day that she came. We didn’t realize until later that this is a serious potential health problem. Bat guano can be dangerous it can cause Histoplasmosis, an infectious disease easily spread when the spores become airborne (sweeping), if you breathe the air you can become infected. Which now makes sense why we 2 of us were always sneezing and coughing when we were in the home. Veronica came on our 2nd day asked if she could clean, we showed her the bat guano outside and inside and left for several hours. Once back, she left the large amount of bat guano on the back patio and didn’t clean out the garbage containers (including those by toilets). The garbage container in the master bath was very disgusting and still is. Also the windows, screens and sliders were very filthy. There were unclean sheets in the laundry room. All towels were downstairs and they were damp. We were unable to shower as the stink from the faucets was unbearable. Sewer backup? We heard gurgling in the shower when flushing. Water leaks in 2 bathrooms. Upstairs, lights in both closets don't work. The sliders don't slide or close very well, allowing in lots of flies. Once outside, we did enjoy the lovely pool and beautiful beach views. We asked for a refund, the owner refused. Why did we stay? We were on vacation, would have had to find another place to stay and pay again to stay somewhere else. In hindsight – we definitely should have found another place to stay. Surely the management company, if they saw how dirty the house was would have an issue with it. This property was not at all on a level that I expect from Vrbo.
If I where other Vrbo renters I would not rent to you. Your review does not make sense nor address any real view of many other local renters we have had this year, and less than 60 days ago.
Why keep staying at the house if that was so bad? How come you did not say anything to anyone until after you were gone? You happily used the house and the pool every day (as seen many times on the outside motion detection camera). If things were so bad you should have called or just left the house.
If you had talked with me (which you had my number) or my management people (which you also know) at the time or any perceived problem would have been addressed on the spot! You did not ask for help to address any problems.
Plus, we have onsite caretakers that could have addressed any issues and you did not ask them for any help. My understanding is you hired them to do some personal offsite work for you when they could have addressed your “concerns”. We know everyone would have helped any way possible... you just needed to talk with someone at that time, which was not done.
Plus, why would you leave lobster heads and fish guts trash in my refrigerator. Again you could have just given it to the caretakers to address the trash.
I always have had our management firm, that you know, fully inspect the house monthly. I always addressed any issues found. That was done 2 weeks before you were at the house and the caretakers fully cleaned the house the morning you checked-in.
Finally, we talked with other people on the beach and in the area that met you and your group. It sounds like parts of the group hate this whole area and had unrealistic expectations for this part of Nicaragua.
