Spiti Boua

Charming old house of 100m2, with lots of character and history. In the beautiful and green corfiote country side, at 1.7 km from the sea. Cafés, supermarket and restaurant just opposite the house. This house was built in the late 18th century as the country house of a noble corfiote family. It used to stand alone in the middle of the family's lands. This is why the house still has, on the front and on the rear, firing steps meaning openings on the walls where the guns were put in order to protect the house in case of attack. The ground floor was used to stock the land production such as olive oil, corn and wine. This food stock saved a lot of people from famine during WWII. The Boua family is mentioned in the "Libro d'Oro" (the Golden Book) among the families having the right to pass from Liston. This is the arcade passage of the main corfu esplanade, where in the past only a few families were allowed to use. The family still has its own family crest (coat of arms).
