Welcome to our ocean front island home. Bring a boat & relax with 180 degree ocean views from our two decks. Directly on the ocean with a private dock. We provide 3 kayaks to explore, 2 bikes to cruise or grab some groceries, a fully equiped kitchen and a covered BBQ entertainment area to cook your daily catch. We have designed the house to comfortably sleep 8 people. You can travel here by high speed foot ferry, car barge, or boat.
This is our personal family holiday home and we ask that you respect our house as we use it with our children and holiday here often to relax and kayak. We have taken a lot of time and effort to create a tranquil retreat and hope you appreciate the results. Once you arrive you will be greeted by a calm, friendly, welcoming community. There is an IGA, post office, bottle shop and hardware store walking distance from the foot ferry. Our home is designed with a fully equiped kitchen, outdoor BBQ, and a selection of eating areas. The best part is that you have an ocean view from all the decks, seating areas, bathroom and master bedroom. The front of the house has beautifully maintained gardens, shady trees and you will see and hear gentle wildlife that is not seen in the city. 100 meters from the the house you will find a park to fish from the bank or bike or walk the trails.
The Russell Island RSL has a great menu for lunch and dinner. They offer a free bus to and from your location. Call (07) 3409 1372 for Bistro and bus bookings.
Please note that this is a family neighbourhood and is NOT a party house. The attraction to this family home is the attention to detail for families who want to relax and require items for children. The quiet neighbourhood is patrolled by the RI police to enforce noise restrictions after 10pm vehicle and speed limits.

Full functioning house.

Overall a great place to stay. Lovely view. Secure yard for kids to play in. Better communication for the guests bedding situation and linen for larger groups. No fans working in both bath rooms.

The view

I gave a four star rating out of five because I found the lounges to be too soft to sit on but other than that it was a great holiday home and was very thankful it had aircon. Midges and mosquitoes could not bring it down

Spectacular views!

We had 3 very relaxing nights here. The photos online definitely didn’t do it justice, it’s was even better in real life. The views and the set out were exceptional. Hearing the water lapping at night just topped off how whole experience.

A getaway with all the inclusions

We had a family weekend away with young and old, and everyone enjoyed their stay. The home came with everything you need including fishing rods and bait. A great location with a beautiful sunset as you enjoy an evening drink on the balcony. Thank you to the host!

Fantastic waterfront holiday stay

We were blown away with how beautiful this house is, you are on the water and can enjoy everything Russell island has to offer from the back door. We stayed for a month and couldn’t fault anything the hosts were quick with communication and made our stay there a breeze! We will be recommending this house to anyone that stays on Russell.

Fun on and off the bay.

The property makes the most of its setting. The bay dominates. Very special is the open-air dining area with easy access to the kitchen, and also to the indoor dining table. This allowed teenagers and children to eat at one table while adults enjoyed the open-air space, but with good communication between the two groups. If needed, each table could sit eight. The bedrooms are comfortable without being luxurious. We made a lot of use of the four kayaks. A great way to get children and teenagers away from electronic entertainment! The bikes also got a workout. We appreciated the pet-friendliness. The fact that the property is away from any significant road traffic meant meant it was easy to let the dogs get some exercise chasing a ball outside or taking a 2k round trip. Everyone enjoyed themselves with a lot of laughs. This is a reflection of the quality of the venue.

Relaxing short getaway for sunsets and birdlife

Stayed for 2 nights with our teenage children, and we enjoyed our stay. The house is clean, spacious, open planned, with a gorgeous outlook to the water. The sunset was absolutely spectacular. The kitchen has a beautiful outlook over water. A nest of prey birds not far away - loved watching them swoop fish out of the water. Even the toilet has a nice view. The house is on the far end of the island from the jetty - we got a taxi there (cheap taxi ride), and settled in for the whole time, as it is a bit of a distance from anywhere. Only one bike was in action when we were there - they need a bit of TLC, which was a bit disappointing. The gusty winds at high tide also wasn't in our favour to spend much time on the paddle boards, but we had a go, and tried our luck with the crab pots. If you have a still day at high tide, the paddle boards would be great, but we were getting blown into the shore. You really need to launch them at high tide, as there is a decent amount of mud at low tide. The best part of our stay was hanging out on the decks and lazing in the hammock at sunset, and watching the bird life. My kids enjoyed having a fish from the nearby rocks. I recommend this house for a quiet and relaxed lazy getaway, for bird life and sunsets.

The weather was against us for our stay as the wind made water sports very difficult combined with low tide most of the day exposing copious amounts of mud with the occasional sharp coral designed to slice into feet.

A perfect getaway for relaxing. We have never seen a holiday property with so many kitchen utensils, salad bowls/platters and so many other little thoughtful extras supplied by the hosts. We had a wonderful time - Thank you.

Very clean. Nice house layout. Wonderful Views. More comfortable lounges would be good. (Could spoil people with recliner or 2). Midges bad last 2 days during our week stay, but that goes with the island I guess). Came away very refreshed thankyou.

Mid week respite

The house was pleasing upon pulling into the driveway. Neat and tidy. The house itself is welcoming and airy with a beachy feel. We only used the main bedroom which has plenty of room and a comphy bed. It was nice to be able to see the view from all areas of the bathroom. 💩 with a view.. 😁 2 deck areas were great.. but take this advice.. Stop in at the IGA abd buy some "SHOO" insect spray the other stuff jyst does not do anything for the midges when they decide to visit. We caught several decent flathead off the backyard between the white posts in the water. We enjoyed our stay and would have liked a few more days to chill and use the kayaks and bikes. supplied. 9 outa 10 for sure..

Vous êtes reçu par Raisa and Peter

Raisa is a teacher and Pete is a nurse. We are a blended family with 5 daughters. We love sharing our time between Brisbane and living on the Sunshine Coast where we spend most of our time on the beach, cycling, running, kayaking and cheering on our daughters at their various sports and dance events. After moving here from Canada, Raisa loves Australia, the weather, people and exploring the natural beauty and bustling cities. Pete continues to teach her the Aussie way of life and humorous way of life here.

We spend time in our unit with our family and and we look forward to hosting you.

We are available by phone and have professionals on the island who help maintain the house, stop by to check in and generally help you if we cannot be there in a time efficient manner. We always come by before and after your stay.
Please respect our booking policy by honestly stating the number of guests staying in our house. We have a security camera in place and check it for the safety of our guests and the security of our house.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

Russell Island has a small primary school, public pool, lawn bowls, two large jettys for large boats to dock, a camp ground, outdoor park for BBQs and basic shops for essentials. This is a place to unwind and does not have chain stores, fast food or boutique shops. We have one IGA, bottle shop, hardware store and post office. Woolworths (a national grocery chain) offers free deliver to the island for a minimum purchase of over $200, or a delivery fee for a smaller purchase. They can be found online.
The Russell Island RSL has a great menu for lunch and dinner. They offer a free bus to and from your location. Call (07) 3409 1372 for Bistro and bus bookings.
This is your holiday to unwind and move away from the hustle and bustle of the city rush.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

A high speed ferry is part of the QLD transportation system and you can use your GOCARD. The BAY ISLANDS GUIDE APP can be downloaded for the schedule. There are a few ferries each hour either direct 20 minutes Redland Bay to Russell Island or a 30 minute ferry which stops at other island enroute to RI. If you have a vehicle and trailer the Barge Vehicle Ferry (reservation is mandatory) is available on the Stradbroke Ferry Website. If you have a boat we are a quick ride away from your boating origin.
SMBI Transport offer transportation if you want to walk on the ferry and bus to our house. They do take cats and dogs. Call 0428 115 886.
Russell Island Taxis is another transport service, call 0408 785 555 / 0408 785 218
