Fatima was a gracious host! Beautiful home with stone walls. Gave a great Portuguese experience. Lovely view!! Only wish it was warmer to use the pool! We enjoyed sitting outside on the patio sipping our Porto, taking in the view to the smell of orange blossoms! Truly lovely!
This is the ideal place to experience the Douro. The house was very lovely with everything we needed. Itâs perfect for a family visit! It was a bit chilly for the pool but it would be nice to use in the summer for sure! Our gracious host was very attentive and provided everything we needed.
Fatima welcomed and attended to us as if we were family. Deonilde delivered fresh bread in the morning and did our laundry.
The view was spectacular, especially poolside. Well equipped kitchen, two modern bathrooms and yes, the Wifi works!
Other than the first night dinner out, we enjoyed eating on the lovely terrace.
Everything was great. We had someone meet us at the house to open up and give us a tour. We were offered fresh bread to buy and have it dropped off in the morning which was lovely. We did not realize how far out this place was, but loved it when we got there. What a stunning view of the river and surrounding area. We took the train op the river to enjoy other parts of the region, so really felt like we had the full emersion.
We rented Fatimaâs guesthouse for five nights in June and it was wonderful! Itâs a quaint typical Portuguese home with interesting authentic features. The house stayed mostly cool even through a heatwave of four 40 degree days! The pool has an incredible view of the Douro river and valley. The caretaker Donehilde was so kind and helpful and keeps the property looking amazing. Fatima took the time to come and meet us on our second day and was so responsive to all our questions via WhatsApp. A local baker delivered us a half loaf of fresh bread to the front gate each morning for 1 euro/day. A heavenly stay, 10/10 would recommend to anyone.
Retired couple who spent 2 weeks touring Portugal and loved our 3 days at this property. It was, by far, our most authentic lodging, making us feel connected to the home and region. It is as described, a unique home set high up the bluff from the river and literally carved out of the stone. While there, we took the train into Porto (an easy trip but skip the CP website and buy your tickets on the train) for a day and also spent an entire afternoon on the terrace enjoying the sun and the gorgeous view of the Douro valley. The roads and villages around it are scenic and lightly traveled. This is a great place for those seeking peaceful and natural surroundings and who value getting a little separation from the crowds yet being close enough to still enjoy them. Fatima gets 6 stars for her communication and warmth.
Beautiful location but the house and grounds need some work. Cleaning of kitchen and outdoor space is needed.Fatima was a lovely lady but unfortunately our stay was not pleasant due to lack of firewood to keep the house warm and no working shower, so we checked out 3 days early.
Excelente acolhimento!
voltaremos com certeza! Obrigada InĂȘs e Dona Dorinda.

We loved our short stay! We are a family of five and were looking for a short visit to the region. You find everything you need in the apartment. It suits 5 people. The pool is very nice and the Douro valley offers some great views. you have a mini market in the village nearby. Ines is very helpful if you have any questions. The housekeeper (Deonilde) will even bring you bread in the morning for a small fee. Thanks for everything.
