Great old rustic and simple house, quiet, well located, fantastic view. We went to amazing beaches . We hope we will be able to come back.Thank you Helena who was very helpful and kind.
Get away from it all with panoramic sea views on beautiful Andros
We really enjoyed our stay at this wonderful property on the beautiful Greek island of Andros. This is a traditional old stone home high up on a hillside a few kilometres of the island's main 'resort' of Batsi. I say 'resort' as it is still really quite low key and mainly attracts Greek holidaymakers/second home owners from Athens. The house has the most extraordinary panoramic sea views west towards other islands. You could sit on the terrace all day if there wasn't so much to explore on the island! Inside, there is a well-equipped kitchen then a cosy living room leading to two good sized bedrooms, both with en-suite shower rooms. There is another bathroom next to the kitchen and next to this some fairly steep steps lead up to a third bedroom which we didn't use, connecting to a small roof terrace. The decor is traditional and the whole place is set is mature gardens and is very private. I'd say not suitable for toddlers as the garden is terraced and there is a small reservoir pool, but for our six-year-old twins it was perfect and they loved it. Andros itself is a great island for a peaceful family holiday. If you want it, there are a few beaches with beach bars and music to accompany your sunbathing, but we found it much more fun to search out some of the more secluded beaches on the east coast. You'll need a car to get to the house and to explore, it's quite a big island and the main town on the other side of Andros is well worth a couple of trips. There is a good taverna within a kilometre of the house and lots of choice down around Batsi plus an adequate supermarket for self catering. There are loads of walking trails on the island, and plenty of nature, and one of the lovely aspects is the many mountain springs dotted around the villages, where you can fill up your water bottle with cool spring water. All in all a great spot for a peaceful get away from it all break on an island not so well known outside Greece.
Very nice house, tastefully furnished, wonderful terrace, amazing view and sunset
perfect for a family or a group of friends (three bedrooms and three bathrooms).
The landlord, David, although he was not there, was very caring and his friend Penny, on the island, incredibly friendly and helpful.
Perfect holiday
Thanks
Having enjoyed living in Athens for eight years , we were anxious to keep a foothold in Greece when we returned to the UK . Andros in particular appealed to us because it is relatively easy to reach from the mainland and its tourism is low key unlike some of the larger islands like Corfu or Rhodes . However if we feel like a change of scenery or activities the nearby islands of Tinos , Syros and Mykonos are easily reached . We bought the house simply as a family home and we let it only when my wife and I or our family are not claiming it.
