A beautiful, peaceful location. The hosts were very accomodating and the cottage very well equipped. A fantastic place to relax and get away from it all
The place is truly beautiful, clean and extremely well equipped. Phillipe and his wife (agents) were very pleasant and very helpful.
The owner went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable.Im not sure it would be the perfect place for young children as apart from a covered pool itâs extremely quiet. Huge supermarket approx 6km at Gien plus a few restaurants, we loved our holiday there
We have just returned from spending 3 amazing weeks at this gorgeous house, the lovely host was amazing & very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The house keepers were attentive and dealt with the few requests we made immediately and without fuss.
The chateau in the village is worth a visit and any shopping/bars/restaurants you may require are only a 10 minute drive away in Gien.
We are so grateful to have had a really tranquil holiday here, the garden is beautiful and the pool we fell in love with! Thank you so much for letting us stay and we hope that one day we will be back to visit xx
A well-equipped gite in a private setting. French owner is very friendly but not intrusive. Pool has a roof so can be used in all weathers (handy as we had quite a lot of rain). A very good week.
We had a fantastic family vacation at the end of the summer break. The property was great with 3 good sized bedrooms. Facilities were good quality with new modern bathrooms complementing the more traditional living area. Pool was heated and the kids loved it...spending 2-3 hours in it everyday. Location great for nearby chateau and historic towns. We also went to Disneyland Paris one day which was a 1.45 hour trip. Great Weber barbeque available and bijou kitchen with everything you will need. Immaculate bedding and towels. Also met the owners Gerard and Nicole, two lovely people. Highly recommended.
.. Englisch versteht vor Ort niemand. Aber vielen Dank fĂŒr Honig und Wein!
When we arrived, we were a little confused to begin with about who lived where and what's what. No one speaks English so please make sure you go prepared for this.
As you drive up to the property through the electric gates there's a main house to the left, the holiday let and caretakers semi detached property in front and a barn under conversion to the right.
The holiday cottage consisted of a double and a twin upstairs next to a separate shower, toilet and main bathroom with a full-sized bath. Downstairs there's another en-suite single room and also a living room and small kitchen. The kitchen is well equipped with a cooker, hob, microwave, fridge with an icebox and dishwasher. The main house has a laundry and the machines are there for your use if you need them. The back door from the living room opens onto the most beautiful patio and garden with seating for 6, sun loungers and a ping pong table.
The pool is behind the main house and is just a 20 second walk from the back door. It's used exclusively by the holiday let (at least it was whilst we were there). We took our inflatables and we're allowed to use it at anytime we wished. There are no restrictions at all and you are free to roam around the grounds. It's really fun to feed the fish in the huge pond!
To address the previous post of noise. We too experienced work to the barn roof for one day. However, we asked (I messaged via the VRBO app) for the noise to stop and it did. The workmen completely ceased all work whilst we were there, even giving us a bottle of champagne to apologise.
Everyone was really friendly and we especially loved meeting 'Christian' who was so very kind and funny.
If we had any negatives it's that there isn't anything to do for children in the area. The pool was great to keep the kids occupied but do bear in mind children might get bored.
This property is perfect for anyone wanting a peaceful getaway and is wanting to kick back and stop for a bit.
I just wanted to address the previous post issue with dogs. We ate dog people and we adored having the two dogs interact with us. The owners will pop the away if you wish.
Finally, for those wondering if you should pack a weeks shopping - don't. There's an Aldi and a local French supermarket within 5-10 mins drive in Gien. There's also a retail park, McDonalds and a lovely Boulangerie.
This really is a cracking property, we would definitely return but without children.......
The property was lovely and sat alongside the owners home in beautiful gardens.
Electric gated access made you feel secure.
Our aim was to have peaceful two weeks with swimming walking and relaxing.
On the Monday of our second week however we were awoken by loud traffic noises and banging. The roof of one of the outbuildings was being replaced. We were not advised in advance of this, either in our booking or after we arrived so our peace and quiet was spoilt. It was still ongoing when we left.
We did mention it to the manager Isobelle, she just shrugged.
The owner also had two dogs which again we were not aware of. They roamed the grounds freely. They were friendly enough but a nuisance and meal times when we eat outside.
One of the bed throws was covered in animal hair. Dogs are allowed in the rental but we did not have a dog with us and felt this should have been picked up in cleaning.
We spent a wonderful week on the beautiful estate. If you're looking to spend time in a classy home, engulfed in nature, peace and quiet, this is it. The house is on a 9 km2 estate that has wild boar, deer, foxes and other wildlife. But the house itself is on a fully gated terrain, so perfect for kids and dogs. We enjoyed the big luxury pool and the immense lawn. Both the owner and groundskeepers are very helpful and friendly. The village is nearly and has a small supermarket and a 'boulangerie'. But the bigger town of Gien is only 15 minutes away. All-in-all we had a wonderful time!
