My wife and teenage daughter and I stayed at the villa for 4 days in July and it suited our needs perfectly!! Centrally located making it convenient for Fira, Oia and the beaches at Perissa and Kamara. Our host, Mery, was super helpful especially with restaurant recommendations and transport around the island as we didnât rent a car. The pool with the villa was a great plus for all of us as were the great restaurant choices within easy walking distance. A beautiful place in a great location - definitely would stay at Cavern House Anthea again!!
The property was pretty much what I had expected. The location was much more remote.
We enjoyed our stay. Disappointed that there was no where to go for coffee, a drink, or to just hang out. The wonderful resturant, Metaxi Mas, was definitely a God-send.
We had a lovely stay in the Cave house. It was amazing to stay in Santorini and be away from the crowded areas. We rented a car to get around the island which was a must. The car rental was delivered right to the property. The property is very well managed and the team that looks after it is very competent. Communication was excellent and all questions were immediately answered. The nearby tavern, Metaxi Mas is a fantastic restaurant and a very quick walk.
A sanctuary Away from the crazy busy rest of Santorini
Our stay in the cave house was like a sanctuary in the middle of Santorini! No crowds in this little village. Getting up the steep oath to the house & pool is no mean feat but worth it. The cavern house is beautifully kept and has everything you need. A car is definitely needed nut it is not far from anywhere including Kamari beach, Fira and lovely Purgos & Megalochori villages.
Our family have just returned from this picture perfect cave house . Itâs quirky furnishings and ingenious use of space makes it stand out from the rest. The house is extremely comfortable and is equipped with everything you could possibly need. This is our second visit to Anthea and it wonât be our last. The proximity to a fabulous restaurant only adds to its appeal . It is super cool in the heat of the day and spotless throughout. A total gem.
We absolutely loved the cave house. So unique. The upper deck and cool pool were the best part of the house!!! Petros, villa manager, went above and beyond for us. He was always just a call away and did whatever he could to help us. We all had the best nights sleep as it is so dark and quiet in and around the house.. remember, a cave has no windows!!! And really comfy beds!! All in all, we highly recommend the cave house.
If you are looking for a cave house for your stay in Santorini then you will not go wrong with this property. The location is in a quiet village, and you do need a car to get around, but there are two restaurants within walking distance, including the highly rated and very popular Metaxi Mas. The pool terrace is beautiful, and sunrise is worth getting up early for. The property manager, Petros, was awesome, very helpful and responsive. It should be noted that the cave house is a 5 minute uphill walk from the parking, which may not suit everyone.
An amazing, clean and beautiful place to stay in Exo Gonia.
It really is an unusual place and so tastefully decorated. What made the stay was the care and attention Petros, our property manager gave to us. He was there when we arrived, offering support and ideas, he popped in to answer queries but was always at the end of a text message, whenever we wanted advice on a place to visit or a query about the property.
He even went out of his way to help us get our car back to the airport. He organised transfers to the port and he let us stay in the adjoining property when we had to check out and it was raining.
An amazing property but the personal service of Petros really added to our holiday experience, thank you Petros.
Out of this world. Absolutely brilliant accommodation⊠very clean, gorgeous terrace with lap pool, view on the terrace beautiful and as for Pedro (the property manager) what can I say. Nothing was a bother, answered any queries straight away, went out of his way to do anything for us, was a complete gentleman, we just wanted to wrap him up and take him home with us. Now thatâs what managers are all about. Could not have got any better. Beautiful people, beautiful island, magnificent holiday. We were spoilt by Pedros! Thank you young man. â€ïž
We deeply appreciated the character of the updated cave house, as well as the location in a village less overwhelmed by tourists despite the proximity to Metaxi Mas and Anemoloos (both taverns worth eating at). Itâs recommended to have a vehicle here. Sarah was kind, clear, and always available by message. Petros was an excellent member of the on-site team, ready and willing to share tips, solve potential problems at the property (though none arose), and help make bookings for transfers or activities/excursions. The property is a short drive to Kamari for a quick swim or brunch at The Finch, Omoos for excellent morning coffee, and Santo Wines for a wine tasting with views that overshadow the iconic Oia Instagram influencer shots. Be sure to enjoy the local and authentic taverna food on the island. Perivolos and Perissa beaches are a 15 minute drive and offer the better beach experiences on the island.
We had a perfect stay at this property! The property manager Sarah could not of have been more helpful. She helped us with a car rental, booked a sunset cruise, arranged a transfer to the port and recommended many great restaurants. The property itself is a short walk from the parking at the church in a truly authentic Greek neighborhood. This means it is so quiet! We were grateful that the fully stocked kitchen came with some meat, cheese, bread, beer and wine. We wanted to go straight to the pool deck ontop of the house and enjoy those views! The house is very thoughtfully decorated with room for us (five adults) to spread out. While we were there we ate the famous Metaxi Mas which was a five minute walk away. Make sure to make reservations well in advance! We also had a short walk to the restaurant Anemolos. The beautiful village of Pyrgos is nearby. It was a three minute drive or a 15 minute walk. If you walk the back trails wear proper walking shoes because some areas have loose gravel. We loved the restaurant Rosemary in Pyrgos that had excellent food and great sunset views.
It was a sad day when we had to depart the cave house but enjoyed a wonderful sunrise on the deck before we left. Thanks Sarah for all your help in giving us a perfect vacation!
We were 3 couples staying at the villa for one week.
The cave house is very nice, but smaller than we expected. The pictures make it look larger than it is, but we were ok with it - as it is so charming.
The bedrooms vary in size (small, medium, large). 2 have an adjoining on-suite bathroom. The other bathroom has a very low doorway (in which many heads got banged on the way in).
The front courtyard is lovely with lots of flowers and is wonderful to sit there in the evening with candles and wine!
We didn't realize that the pool was not connected to the house (but a few steps up the road). The pool was also smaller than we thought from the photos but we also enjoyed the area. Suggestion would be to have a coffee table placed next to the benches, so you could enjoy food/drinks there too.
The kitchen is well stocked and everything worked wonderfully. We were very pleasantly surprised that we had a welcome package of fruits, meats, water etc. Such a thoughtful touch. We were able to do some laundry while we were there, which was super helpful.
You definitely need a car here, as there is really nothing within walking distance except for the restaurant Metaxi Mas (which was our favourite - GO - the food and service are AMAZING).
Mark was really super helpful with going over all the details of the property, giving us tips on places to go and restaurants to eat at. He also helped us arrange cars. It was fantastic to have that kind of help at our fingertips. We all definitely enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it to friends or family travelling to Santorini that don't want the hustle/bustle of Oia.
